It's amazing how stupid people are with hoax calls etc. Twats!

Saying that, the firefighters aren't much better. They're being selfish and way too greedy. Yes, they deserve a pay rise but they don't deserve 40%. They also don't need to put other lives at risk to prove their point. There are other ways and means. This course of action is losing them the support of the public.

Also, they say they'll still go to fires in certain cases. What sort of strike is that? How can u say that one life is more important than another. They're just saying that so they don't feel as guilty when someone dies.

For example : "Firefighters later said that if they had been asked to attend, they would have done." taken from http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2471123.stm

    Rant over.

They should stop the strikes now. 2 peeps have already died cause those shitty fire engines cant cope how many more people have to die before the get there arse's in gear and realise they are putting lives at risk.

Fair enough i think they should get the raise, but is putting peoples lives at risk the right way to do it? I don't think so.

How can u say you support the strike? Firefighters, like all other emergency sectors, know what the pay is when they go in. I think that they do deserve more money, but so do police, nurses etc. there isn't enough money for everyone. people have priorites all wrong. how can a footballer earn 30K a week for doing fuck all? they're putting people's lives on the line, its just plain silly!a diddle.

Apparently 3 ppl died in fires last nite, but would probably be living now if the firefighters hadnt of been on strike. I think that they do deserve a pay rise, but not 40%, and they have put ppl lives at risk, and if they get this rise, this will open the flood gates for more pay rises within the public services. Personally, I dont think that the police get paid enough, but if they went on strike we'd all be in trouble!

I dont think the squadies will take the shit the fire service does on a hoax call:
    A)Charvas giving them shit.
    B)Charvas throwing stones at them.

They deserve a raise - perhaps not 40%.

When you apply for a firefighters job you immediately are told about pay etc. Even before you've filled in an application form you are informed how much you will start off on, how much you'll get as years increase etc.
So thoughts do raise, why apply when you know how much your going to get if you have a problem with it. Perhaps some don't realize exactly how much a risk your putting your life in? Perhaps after passing all tests, completing your 20 weeks training and started the real thing - you think actually for what I'm doing my wage isn't really acceptable?
I dunno really!?:spangled: But, this strike is a deffinite way of making a point.

One more thing, all this stuff about 3 people dying last night....

I was just wondering how many people die in fires on a normal (non-strike day) in the UK? Could it possibly be 3 anyway?

Is this another case of our press (including the BBC) bending the truth?

    I wonder.

Oh and the normal firemen did attend one of those fires last night as well as the stand-ins.

One of the peeps who died died because the green goddess' ladders couldn't reach high enough and the fire fighters couldn't get up the stairs.

mabey the others wopuld of died anyway but there's one death that wouldn't of happened

I'm not saying that they did not die, i'm just saying that I would need to see some statistics for deaths caused by fires (showing how many normally die) before I draw any conclusions.

But they get PAY rises nearly every year @ the approx the rate of inflation.

The Union is to blame it is unreal to ask for 40%.
For them to wait until they have to ask for 40% is piss poor (It wont be poor if they get the 40%) management.

Lets hope we don't go to war & them chaps driving the 'Green Things' have a 1 day strike as most of them are only on £11500-£13000!!!.

They do deserve a decent payrise, maybe up to an average of £25k a year but asking for 40% is a bit silly, it makes them look a bit greedy and I'm sure the fire brigade can't really afford to pay them that much!

I also don't think it is right that firefighters claim that they can't live on 21k a year, that is bull shit, I know plenty of people that manage perfectly well, fair enough it ain't a great wage and they do deserve more but to say they can't live off it is a disgrace!!!

I was glad to see that some firefighters left picket lines to attend fires last night but the fire fighters who are on strike in the areas where people died will no doubt have lost a lot of public support and if I was one of them I would feel guilty as hell about the fact that people died and they might have survived if I wasn't on strike!!!
