Inspired by a thread on Gurn....

Who are ur best finds on CM and on what version?

I'll start you off with Marco Negri (free transfer, 00/01 version I think). 20-25 goals a season, not bad for a 31 year old Italian that cost nowt. There's loads more - mostly from Sweden etc. I just can't think of many tonight.

I just look 4 the top players but they are 2 expensive

Shefshenko 30 Million no way no one is worth that

Thats no fun at all tho.

U should spend hours/days/weeks searching for players costing 1k but which are really good! Hours/days/weeks, I tells ya!

24 year old midfielder. 60k from S****horpe i think. :spangled:

Had a poor first season for me. I was York, in Division 3. Was thinking of selling him.

He was then a midfield colossus for the next 8 or 9 seasons as we climbed the leagues. Was club captain from end of season 2.

Every time we were promoted, others fell by the wayside. But he steppedeup to each division no problem. Scored double figures every season, which was fantastic for a midfielder whose main skills were the aggression/tackling sorta things.

Fans player of the season almost every year. And kept declaring his "love for the club" over the last 3 or 4 seasons.

Totla legend.

Think it was 00/01 version.

Used to know loads but not played for ages... can't get into the new one

I usually scour the free transfers first... think ivan de la pena is a freebie on the latest

There is a mint 16 year old dutch lad (arf arf) playing in the dutch second division on the latest version, defensive midfielder centre... kuipers or something like that... by the time he was 18 he was bossing my midfield at boro and getting interest from really big clubs, value around 6 million, worth a look

Also, I search countries and regions... scandanavia (esp sweden), its worth searching south america (mainly brazil and argentina) for EU passports, eastern europe has loads of good players (poland, ukraine etc) work permits can be a pain tho. Australia has a couple of decent players (some with EU), especially for lower divisions. Scouting youth players is usually worthwhile too.

Used to have pages of mint players... got shot when I couldn't be arsed anymore!

Bought the new one with some vouchers i got for Xmas. Have only taken one look at it, and havent played it at all, Just too big really.

Tried to install the old ones on to this comp and they wouldnt install. Anyone any adeas why?

The latest one wanted ya to do too much imo... I couldn't be bothered changing tactics, training regimes etc almost all the time... the older ones I could find my own quite quickly and stick with them for long periods. Far too much to do and i'm not geeky or interested enough to do that really

Played a few games but the one I remember mainly was when I got sacked in my second season at boro... I had got them into europe (might have won a cup, can't remember), secure finances and mid table... accurate personalities pah! Gibson would be wiping my arse in the real world... just look at mcclaren

Pity tho cos it has so much potential, might give it a second chance in the summer

Dunno why the older ones won't install... system might be too new? Try downloading the old ones from the CM website and see if they work from there

On Windows XP?

I play the 00/01 version and that works fine for me. Havent tried any of the other older ones tho.

CM4 just isnt as addictive.

Lee, i just tried installing 00/01 again, and it worked!

No idea why it didnt work last time. In fact i cant remember if i tried it or not.

When i got this comp i definately tried to put cm2 and 97/98 Update on, and cm3, and none of them worked.

Its 97/98 i think that i really want. Its at me parents house tho, so i think il go get it 2moro and try again.

Cheers for the thread tho. Its inspired me. Gonna start a new game on 00/01 now.

Stella, Champ Man and Dave Seaman. Doesnt get much better than this.

If it doesnt work, you could always download an Amiga emulator onto ur PC and play the 97/98 version on that.

Not on CM4 but the legend that was Tonton Zola Mokuoko. Get him at the start from Derby, 15 years old, and throw him straight in the first team. Delivers the goods immediately.

I won the third division in my first season aswell as the FA Cup and got to the quarter finals of the league cup and lifted the charity shield. The fans have built a statue of me outside the ground.
