Ferry Corsten Brand New Interview!!!!!!!!!!!! Ferry Corsten Brand New Interview!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahead of Ferry Corstens hugley anticipated return to 'Passion' JFK has found time to interview Ferry to talk about things new and old.... Read On!!!! JFK: Hi Ferry, wow, it’s been almost 4 years since we played together here at Passion, i am so looking forward to seeing you back here. Did you know you were the first Dutch DJ that I ever booked here at Passion? Well maybe you did but I bet you didn’t know that when I put It too the bosses that I just had to book a DJ called FERRY CORSTEN, they said ‘WHO!.... this had better work Kinchy or your job is on the line!’ ha ha Fortunately we had a full house and some people had even made signs saying ‘WE LOVE FERRY’ on them, what did it feel like to travel to a different country and have instant adulation? Ferry: It was unreal for me. I still remember setting foot into that DJ booth and hearing the whole crowd go mental. That was not something I was used to at all. That time in Passion was one of my very first dates in the UK and also one of the few early gigs outside of Holland. So, I really think of that moment with a smile on my face. JFK: You were very fresh to the scene way back then and I remember you been taken slightly surprised at my full on party attitude and you even asked my girlfriend (now my wife) ‘Is he always like this?’ How does the UK crowd’s atmosphere compare to other venues worldwide and where does the Passion crowd’s atmosphere sit in terms of world atmosphere rankings? Ferry: The UK crowd has always been right at the top of my list of expressive crowds. There are many places in the UK where a night literally explodes, but nowhere is quite like Passion. I would put the UK crowd up there with the Argentines, The Ozzies and the Swedes…Rough and full on. That’s also what Passion is all about and what I’ve always loved about that place. JFK: Your self and Armin Van Buuren filmed your crowd shots for the video for ‘Exhale’ here in which you got lost in a field, got a lift in a limo full of heartily breasted women and ended with playing a back to back set together at Passion, I remember it being one of the best ever night here at Passion, what can you remember about that night? Ferry: Well, it was quite a hectic day. We were literally filming on the way from Amsterdam to Coalville…At the airport, in the plane, in London and on the way to the club in that limo. While driving, we saw that field with those yellow flowers and we improvised a bit. We stopped in the middle of that field, got out and started filming. I later found out that I was covered in yellow dust from head to tow. In the club, the vibe was off the hook. Like you said, one of the best I’ve ever experienced in the UK. You could feel that the crowd was happy to be part of something and it was because of them that the video had such a great ending. JFK: You were our very first international monthly resident, its hard to believe that we had the privilege of seeing you every month for a year back then, what were fondest memories of playing here back then? Ferry: At some point you start to recognize people. You become part of one massive family. It’s just great to know the ins and outs of something. I just loved the massive roar of the crowd every time they heard a tune they liked or when you went mad on the mic….Come On Passiooooooon!!! Hahaha… JFK: Wow times have changed and we now have not here for over 4 years… are you excited and why did you choose now to make your return? Ferry: I’m really excited to be back at good ol’ Passion…. It somehow feels like a homecoming. After years of playing at different clubs, I really wanted to go back to where I once started… JFK: You are now rightly in the top tier of international artists and DJs, your career has been a spectacular rise, but do you have any more ambitions that you would like to fulfil? Ferry: I started as a producer before I started DJing. That is what I really am and what I will always be in the end…a producer. In the future I see myself working more as a producer rather than a DJ. I’m talking years from now, so don’t worry ;-) JFK: Musically your fantastic production has always been a main stay of most trance DJ’s sets, especially mine ha ha…when I heard ‘Out of the blue’ it changed the way I listen to dance music forever, have you ever thought about re-editing your classics for today’s market or is it all about moving forward for you? Ferry: Well, I have thought about it and I’m still struggling with two schools of though. One says, don’t do it because it’s very easy to burn your fingers on such a classic. The other one says, do it because there is still so much fun and potential left in that record. So, I don’t know really. I’m definitely about moving forward, but I will never turn my back on the big classics that made me who I am today. JFK: I for one am anticipating your set at Passion on April 28th so much that I have booked a spot on the podium… got any surprises in store? Ferry: HA!!! Cool, well we will see. I think I have a few nice ones for you!!! JFK: Well hopefully we can have our customary pre gig dinner together… but by my calculations it’s your turn to pay… so is it MacDonald’s or KFC… ha ha only kidding… cant wait to see you. Ferry: Your right! Or maybe we can have some pizza in your office….like the good old days ;-) Thanks Guys for the top interview! see you on the 28th!
