is it ne fun? i want a job. sumthing i will enjoy...so no cold calling...and no working for stupid stuck up people in a convenience store...and i was thinking bar work...not in a club, in a bar and was wondering what is it actually like?

I love bar work, but it very much depends which bar you work in. I worked in Rosies for about four and a half years! I would go for one that is more of a pub than a townie bar - you'll get more regulars in, so a bit more banter, and less pissed idiots.

you dont wanna go workin in a bar slap bang in the middle of town...

it'll get absolutely rammed and will be full of piss heads

best to find a quiet bar where you can have a bit crack with the regulars and other bar staff

i agree with allie it is shite, busy as fuck one night, fook all to do another, i thought it would be cool, but its actually well shit.

Its crap if the pubs is quiet and its crap when its heaving. Pissed people can be hilarious but a lot of blokes hassle bar maids.

Its hard to find a happy medium. Defo dont go for somewhere like the Bigg Market

I used to work behind a bar in a club for a few months and didnt dislike it at all - it probs helped knowing alot of the people that drunk there as its me mam and her fellas local !

I just generally got sick of working two jobs in the end so ditched the bar work - the pissed people may annoy ya at times but its cos there pissed and u aint

I used to be allowed a "few" free drinks in the night and sometimes the odd pint would go to me head :spangled:

I hated working after a night out too

A swift pint after working long hours always goes to my head. Another half an i'd be on the floor

Working after a night out nearly got me fired for tellin me gaffer where to stick her chicken legs

bar work is class! u get drinks bought for u!! u ignore the piss ppl & have a bit banter with the rest....

u may need to learn to b a bit more nasty tho incase anyone does say out to ya....

take the advice of going for a smaller pub thats not in a town centre so u get less piss heads & more regulars in tho!!

ive got 2 bar jobs at the mo, nd love em both!
the first one ive worked in for three years(waitressed there before hand) nd it mainly made up of regualrs... aww there lovely, always take good care of me.. nd buy me drinks! hehe

the second one i have is a lcoal where i live.... its full of blokes like, who always have sumthing to say...... when they found out that i was like erm one of their drinking buddies daughters, they backed off, nd if i get any greif off punters, always have sumthing to say to em!!

theyre both pretty smallish... but get rammed on the nights i work, its good tho, passes over the time!
go for it heather... but no offence or owt tho, keeo ya assets covered up, if i wear vest tops or whatver nd bend down, they always have a good look!!

if ya gonna do it tho, go ofr a local bar, ur known at, or a smallish one near by... that way u get the best of both worlds, happy, busy and freindly locals, who look after ya! xx
