FAO Mark Promise & Everyone R.E Is Trance Dead?

nah mark, the clubscene is going through a rough patch, especially @ this time of yr. but its all about line up strength, the night you mentioned to be most popular, Scot project - also featured Matt Hardwick, Eddie H. if its the one i`m thinking of also featured marco v, the John Kelly night was also due to feature Marco V., Judge Jules, well he`s a very famous high profile legend/radio DJ!
There`s nothing wrong with either Johan Gielen or Matt Hardwick, nothing @ all, put them on together & i bet you`d get a better attendance altogether!
In my experience for me to definitely go to a club with one big name DJ alone on it would have to be someone like PVD, if for example you had 2 good DJ`s on i`d also bother aswell, 1 DJ & the residents & i would`nt get out of bed, i would go elsewhere, even though i`d rather stay in the north east, be it @ Promise or the `Shack, i would be forced to travel in search of a fatter line up, its not just me that has this mentality, all my friends do too, repeat this countrywide & you`ve got a problem, thats where the SugarShack are going wrong also, with a night like the one where you had scot project with Matty H. you were catering for 2 sets of ppl. - ppl. who like it hard + pure trance lovers, you had a good attendance for the time of yr. - i bet if you put the same night on now it`d be rammed, you can say it`d be too expensive to put these nights on, but the evidence of the current situation is there for all to see, give bigger line ups a go?!?!

another thin i know matt hardwick is mint, but a lot of people would have being put off by the length of his set last time 5hrs is 2 long for a lot of peeps, i reckon if matt, richard and lee foster were on on the same nite it would get a better turnout, rather than one dj playing a really long set.

Fair do`s guys, but its NAME(S) alongside residents that`ll sort things out IMO...................

    :) ShinySY!

P.S When promise went to T.T`s was the line up extended? YES!
Was the night a success & rammed? YES!
Is tommorow night in Hull`s line up extended? YES!
Will this result in much more interest, a bigger turn out
    & success? YES!

Get my drift.........more effort with line ups from the promoter, more interest & response from the clubber..............

yeah but it isnt as simple as that though is it u can hardly say that mark n that arent putting any effort into promise's line-up cos of course they are, the line ups that promise does have are dead dead good considering they aint as big as crasher n gods n that n are only open till 3..... and theres always gonna be weeks that no matter what the line-up theres not gonna be so many people cos everyone has there preferences and theres always gonna be a few nites they aint gonna be able to afford or if they wanna hav a break from promise.... dunno if that makes much sense like but u can hardly blame the promotors its just the way fings are.... xxx

oh yes and theres also that little mater of cost..... names cost money n theres only gonna be a certain buget that promise or any club 4 that matter can spend on dj's 4 one nite... xxx

Fair do`s rach. but Mark was moaning about bad attendances & i`ve highlighted the fact that the nights he was going on about that were best, were when he had booked two DJ`s, in general, better line ups = bigger turnout, it does`nt take a genius to work that out, if he wants promise to stay like it is, change nothing, if he wants it to get bigger, he`ll have to get bigger line ups on a more regular basis, the facts & evidence are there for all to see!

see your point but money cant grow on tres its all very weel if ur crasher or gods but i think that clubs that are on a smaller scale nationwide cnat be expected to compete with the line-ups of places such as whom i've just mentioned...plus promise is only open till 3 so theres nonpoint in gettin more dj's n bigger names cos they woudlnt all get chance to play or if they would it certainly wudnt be to their full potential but i know wat ya mean though... xxx

Understand your concerns Rach. but look @ it like this, @ present Promise has a loyal local following & rocks most of the time, with a policy of only 1 name DJ every week you wont get anyone travelling long distances week in week out, which is what it needs to become really big, nights like Scott project/Matt H. & Marco V/Eddie H. were great successes & probably more than paid for themselves, imagine if nights like this were the norm, IMO the profile of club would get even higher & ppl. would want to travel to promise from all around, the result, everyones a winner!!!

true...but do we want it to turn into a superclub like that and as a result probably watch its demise the same way as we hav with crasher...everyone to their own but personally me prefers it how it is but i know theres probs lots of ppl that mite want to see it get bigger.... xxxx

Yeah i agree, maybe, but it was MARK originally that was moaning about bad attendances & such like & he started this topic originally, really strange then, that having asked the question, he does`nt seem to want to comment on possible answers..........

I read the start of this & got up to the point of "newcastle cant sustain a weekly trance night" & thought, here we go, he`s getting loads of other things in the offing here, here is the begining of the end, he`s bored with Newcastle & will eventually pull out alltogether, then i read it all & realised that was`nt what you were sayin @ all, yeah, why not go with the changes, they show imagination & are worth a try & after all, you are the boss, whatever happens mate, well done so far, keep it up, i loved the night at T.T`s recently, all the good sounds came from the DJ`s associated with promise on the night!
I really wish you were in charge @ the `Shack, `coz it might just give me what i need, some banging sounds, not the present "oh so cool, but as exciting as having your teeth out crap"

all sounds a bit pesimistic.....the beginning of the end indeed. oh dear.....just as people are starting to talk about promise.

i dont think anything is wrong really. just keep doing the same, but try and innovate.
