Fao Craig B & Any Hoops Fans Liam Miller is set to sign for Manchester United despite Celtic offering him the chance to become Scotland's best-paid young player. Martin O'Neill's jubilation at finally landing Stephen Pearson was tempered with the shock news that Miller was on the verge of signing a pre-contract agreement with the English giants. The Celtic manager expects the signing of Motherwell midfielder Pearson to go through on Friday after agreeing a £350,000 fee with the club. But his joy was quickly displaced as it emerged that Miller had decided against a new contract offer and was heading for Old Trafford at the end of the season. A Celtic spokesman said: "We have had no conformation from Manchester United of any pre-contractual agreement. "We made an extremely generous offer to Liam Miller, the biggest salary deal ever put on the table for a young Celtic player who has come up through the ranks. "This offer was made following detailed consideration of Liam's contribution to the team to date during his 16 first-team starting appearances as well as eventual potential. "It's a salary package which would make him one of the very best-paid young players in Scottish football history." Miller would follow in the footsteps of Brian McClair, Lou Macari and Paddy Crerand in moving from Parkhead to United. But the move will leave a sour taste in the mouth of O'Neill, who had been in contract talks with him and his agent. The 22-year-old's contract expires in the summer and while they were beginning to drag on, the player indicated that he never wanted to leave Celtic for any side when the speculation started. It represents another major coup for United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who had been impressed with Miller's mature performances since he broke into the first team at Parkhead. Miller has been compared to United skipper Roy Keane for his energetic running and goals from midfield this season. The youngster has already scored five times this season, one of which was a stunning strike against Anderlecht in November, but he was left on the bench for Saturday's Old Firm victory over Rangers.
Re: Fao Craig B & Any Hoops Fans Keane's a hoops fan too In all fairness, I can't see there being much of a playing career at Old Trafford for him. Best off at Parkhead if ya ask me
Celtic will be  He's supported Man Utd since a bairn tho so he will more than likely want to go there, Man Utd's youth accademy too is alot better than the one up north ! Shall see what happens...
Thing is he's believing all his own hype about being the next Roy Keane. We shall see in time about that. Fair enough Man Utd are a bigger club but surely players of that age owe the clubs that have paid and been responsible for there development some loyalty. If he has done a deal behind Celtics back for a free deal at the end of the season which I will wait for this to be confirmed he can get to Fuck!! I wonder how the Eire/Celtic fans will feel about this possible backstabbing.
A PADDY WHO SAID 'NO' Shay Given heads to Old Trafford on Sunday admitting: "I once turned Manchester United down." But the Republic of Ireland keeper insisted that he has no regrets - and that his main concern is to prevent the Reds from embarking on their usual goal spree against Newcastle United at Old Trafford. The keeper, who will be making his 200th Premiership appearance for United, said today: " When I was a 16-year-old I came across from Ireland at the invitation of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Re: Re: Re: Fao Craig B & Any Hoops Fans Ha! Please, there are far better players than Liam Miller to replace Roy Keane.
