Theres been a few times where I've thought I'd be able to do better. Probably wouldn't of though. Everyone has their off days.
LOL !!!!! INGRID SHE REALLY IS WANK INGRID!! WE HAD HER ON AT THE CLUB I WORK, AND SHE ONLY LASTED HALF AN HOUR THEN I WENT BACK ON THE DECKS!!!! NICE ASS THOUGH!!!!!
AGREED!!!, never really thought i could do better, but i often stand listing to DJ's and think!!!..........i've got a tune in my bag that would get a better crowd reaction than what your playin right now!!!.......
KAREEM !!!! NOT BAD DJ WHEN I PLAYED WITH HIM BUT WAS NOT THAT GOOD AT READING THE CROWD AND THEIR REACTIONS!!! BEST TUNE HE PLAYED HAD TO BE "YEKE YEKE" (CLASSIC) !!!
i think its really unprofeshinal when dj's sit there going im better then u when people do taht i say no you may be a better mixer then me but you are not a better dj then me coz real dj's dont fight/bitch/argue over who is better then one another they join together and make the scene much better for the punters in my view on the music business
This is a bit of a shit thread (Sorry Spence) tbh. I don't really compare myself to any 'big name' DJs, and look at my 'style' as being pretty unique. I don't really think I'm a bad DJ though, just the same as everyone else. Some people are just better known than others. All about who you know, or being in the right place at the right time really.
I'm better than a few of them but I'm not saying. Alot of dj's have worked hard to get where they are!!!!
agree 100% with all that is said above, but you must look at those who don't work hard to get where they are and do it caus they want to be cool and get all the girls. they are out there and it pisses me off no end. i've been playing for 7 years now and it's been nothing but hard graft and credit where credit is due to all those who have made it.
totally agree m8!!!, its not what u know its who u know these days!!!, which i find quite sad!!! u can hav all the ability in the world but if u don't know the right people or ya not in the right place u might never get where u wanna be!!! I personally pride meself on watching other dj's, all... dj's different styles etc, but would never turn round and say i was better, beacuse i ain't at the end of the day!!!, there the ones makin a living out of it im not!!!!
Surely this thread isn't too bad! Most big name DJs are not really great DJs, and they know it. They're big name producers, remixers, radio presenters, label bosses etc. DJing is just one aspect of dance music. I don't think many of them would be offended if you said you were better at DJing. Your prob just not better than them at what they primarily focus on. DJing is the luxury that comes along with some of their jobs.
Don't know if I agree with that. Many big name DJ's (Picotto, Ferry Corsten, Tiesto etc.) have been in the business for many many years. Just because they are producers as well it doesn't mean they aren't good DJ's.....maybe their producing skills helped them get to where they are, but I doubt if producing skills alone could carry a bad DJ as far as these "big names" have got. I bet many of them got to be label bosses because of their DJ'ing and producing. As with any business it's always the case that who you know is more likely to get you up the ladder than what you know, but those who fail to deliver the goods will rarely last long. I personally think that the Picotto's, Tiesto's and Ferry's of the world more than deserve to be where they are. I have never seen a bedroom DJ who can even come close to comparing on technical ability, tune selection, creativity, presence, and of couse that ever ellusive x-factor.
