    External Hard drives

I'm lookin to get an external hard drive to use as my store of music and as a back up source for my laptop.

Is there any problems re playback of mp3's using a USB hard drive?

and anyone got any recommendations of drives for no more than £90?

The 2.5" 40GB WD drive from OCUK is a steal.. bearing in mind that 1GB memory sticks are still around the £50 mark these days..

The 80gb disk there spins at 7200RPM (the same speed as most modern desktop hard drives).

Most 2.5 inch disks only spin at 5400RPM, however you're not likely to notice this difference if all you're doing is playing music from it.

The 40 listed on OC is good, however you should bear in mind that you can get a 60gb laptop drive from ebuyer (link ) and a caddy from ebay to fit the drive into (link ) for the same price (give or take a quid).

There are loads of these USB caddies on ebay, the one I've given you the link for is a Sony Vaio caddy, I've just bought an IBM deskstar one for the same price (see below):
