is it a dial up connection? over a modem? could be a few things, like dodgy phone line, ISP problems, possibly a virus. Not heard of a virus that disconnects the modem. but try this : it's an online virus scanner.

it's free and up to date. After that, get the Adware program to get rid of any spy ware. it's probably not that causing the problem, i'd say its more like hardware probs. Could be a dodgy modem i suppose

why do u have to reboot the pc to get it to re-connect? does it throw up any error messages when u try to reconnect?

might be worth contacting telewest for advice, see if they have any suggetions. Sounds like it's just losing it's connection which will either be the modem, cable line or their server. I don't think it's your PC. is it a fairly high spec machine? what O/S u running?

hhmm... could be - wouldn't say for definate though. i'd contact telewest, moan about the service - get them to check it out. sounds more hardware than software, if u know what i mean

    try here...telewest connection checking site...

if your on dial-up it verifies the line, if your on broadband, it locks the band (or something!)
