Hey, everyone in the UK has the right to enjoy the illusion of a democracy ;)

I heard last week that the average MEP gets something like 24 seconds a YEAR to stand up and make their voice heard. The rest of the time they are just sitting about collecting their expenses.

Also ... they dont even have the POWER to do anything via a vote. All they can actually do is vote to SUGGEST laws are changed. Laws that are set by the 'higher ups'. No REAL power at all.

I'd use today as an excuse to bunk off work early to 'vote for whats important' then just hoof it off down the pub and get some nice drinks finished off in the lovely sunshine.

You need a polling card that would have been sent to you recently IF you had registered on the electoral roll.

Not that i have ever actually voted, but this is what ive been led to believe.

It depends on what you define apathy as.

Not voting because your too thick, ignorant, lazy or whatever to have an active interest in the world around you is Apathy yes.

Deciding NOT to vote because you've found it to be a complete sham, and spent many many hours of your own time looking into the system is the complete opposite. Its Lawful Rebellion my friend.

I understand what your saying but i would class both as apathy in their own right, people seem to forget there is a box on the election form that says none of the above. At least vote and tick that box if your not happy that any of the parties represent you. At least have a some kind of say in how your life is run. ;)

If you were looking for someone to look after your cat while you were on holiday, and were given the choice of someone who is into bestiality, or someone who is into blood sports with cats .... who would you choose?

Yeah thats right. Neither. You'd take your cat to your mums house or something.

Without getting into a discussion about political parties - i'd like to take this moment to stand up for all the non voters out there who ACTIVELY decided not to vote.

The problem with voting is that as a concept it sounds amazing. Who WOULDNT want to have a say in how their life is run by those in power.

Unfortunately people who dont vote are judged against this perfect world, which doesnt exist.

What would ticking that box saying 'none of the above' achieve, other than taking a few hours of of my day.

Once again, its this false dream that your 'non vote' actually matters diddly squat.

I'll make a prediction for the next 50 years of politics for you :

LABOUR, CONSERVATIVE, LABOUR, CONSERVATIVE, LABOUR, CONSERVATIVE, LABOUR, CONSERVATIVE, LABOUR, CONSERVATIVE, LABOUR, CONSERVATIVE, LABOUR, CONSERVATIVE

    ;)
