    England squad announced today

The England squad for Euro 2004 is announced today at 2pm.

Best of luck to our boys - Jermain Defoe and Ledley King.

IMO King has to go in defence, no Woodgate or Southgate and the rest of the competition - Brown and Ehiogu look woefully out of form. King has slipped back into defence in recent weeks and is playing as well as ever. Good luck Ledley :king:

ignorance is bliss eh? Ledley King is a footballer of the highest order - something you boys oop north could learn something about! Campbell might be a good stopper but King is a far far better footballer.

Get back to enjoying Varga looking like a world beater in your 2-bob league  Oh and Spurs reject Ramon Vega

    Thanks for O'Neill :cool2:

I'd prefer to think of Heskey as the Titus Bramble of centre forwards :D Scored some vital goals though in his time. Reaxdy for the cliché?? 'His problem is consistency' :D

What football have you been watching? Ehiogu has been playing brilliantly since the new year

I think he'll pick Southgate with the hope that he recovers in time, knowing that the squad doesnt have to be finalised for a few weeks

Ehiogu isn't shit I just don't think you can launch him into the Euro 2004 championships at this time. All defenders are fallible at some point I'm sure you'll agree. I just think there are better candidates ahead of him.

didn't say he was shit did i - i said he looked out of form. For your info I happen to think that Ehiogu is an excellent defender. However I don't think he's been consistently good since returning from injury. And whilst Southgate should be in the squad when fit, Ehigou I don't believe has the footballing abillity to be an England squad regular.

    King is better

If he's that good he'll sign for someone in the top four and I'll probably see him in the champions league then

King made it, Ehiogu didn't. That's all I really need to say isn't it?!

Defoe missed out but fair enough - Vassell is proven for England.

    Preliminary Squad is:
David James (Man City), Paul Robinson (Tottenham), Ian Walker (Leicester); Gary Neville (Man United), Sol Campbell (Arsenal), Ashley Cole (Arsenal), John Terry (Chelsea), Wayne Bridge (Chelsea), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Ledley King (Tottenham), Phil Neville (Man United); Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Nicky Butt (Man United), David Beckham (Real Madrid), Paul Scholes (Man United), Kieron Dyer (Newcastle), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich); Wayne Rooney (Everton), Michael Owen (Liverpool), Emile Heskey (Liverpool), Darius Vassell (Aston Villa).

Nice to see Carragher in there
No real surprises though as he's picked a squad with experience of playing in/with his system.

King is back-up centre-half to Scumpbell and Terry  :D I hope he gets a game when I'm over there! Well done Ledley :worship:

Carragher fair enough but Phil Neville AND Butt?? One or the other please. And surely Scott Parker is a far better midfielder than Butt?? But like you say he's gone for experience.
