    england 'b'

can anyone tell me why the england game tonight against belarus has been designated a 'b' international?

the team consists of world cup players, not fringe contenders as previous 'b' squads tend to.

i take it this doesnt add to players international caps? at least not senior ones?

    Good point.

I presume its just to take the pressure off in case we get beat in a meaningless friendly, and so they can rest the stars without question.

There was an interview with Erikson in the paper yesterday saying it had been designated 'B' to give some fringe players a run out and give them the once over. Due to injuries though it's mainly going to be first team players. Cole, Owen, Walcott etc. all need games.

ah that would explain... still a bit wierd considering these fringe players have almost all been capped and going to represent the 'a' team in the world cup.

    not a bad half!

lennon, downing, looking good on the wings.

    hargreaves not playing badly either

i'd agree with that. lennon started well but not seen much since, downing has been steady and looked more than comfortable, and had a hand in the goal. hargreaves looks decent at rb. i like crouch as well, adds something different.

carrick has been pretty shite... i watched a bloke on sky sports news saying his task should be to not give 1 ball away for 45 minutes... i've lost count of how many shit passes he's done  hope he settles in the second half.

cant say im dissapointed really... think the 'b' tag lessened the pressure which was a good decision... all the young lads looked ok and carrick had a better 2nd half.

unlucky with the 1st goal but the game was a warm up and served its purpose to look at a few lads and get games under belts. a lot of those lads hadn't played together before but still put some good moves together. nothing to be worried about.

    bad news for green tho.
