lol yes the strokes/stripes laid the foundations, but garage has hardly been and gone!

    Yeah Yeah Yeahs - faded
    Hives - still big
    The Strokes - still huge
The White Stripes - argueably the biggest modern band

The garage scene is by no means in its infancy - but it will be the music of this winter - that I'm sure :D

Emo seems to be the only form of punk thats doing anything:

    Hot Hot Heat
    Braid
    jimmy eat world

Are all doing stuff, but this post punk dfa stuff - last years news

Think electroclash as such wont be that big... electroclash seemed to be the huge amalgamation of everything (electro, punk, soft techno, garage, pop, house)... Think electroclash served it purpose it helped revive a lot of dying genres.

However bands like Fischerspooner, Goldfrapp, etc. will age very rapidly.

Theres nothing bollox about being a fashionista :D

Emo's been pretty big for a while now, Jets to Brazil, Cave In etc have been putting stuff ot for ages but can't really see it getting a lot bigger, although I'd like to see Pretty Girls Make Graves get more recognition. There is a lot of amazing punk being produced, you just have to find it - NOFX, Pennywise, Death By Stereo, Ikara Colt have all made awesome albums recently.

My tip for next cool music to listen to will be stuff like Sigur Ros, already big on the underground scene, but their next album is meant to be more accessible. Not that any of you are bothered about anything I've just written!:D  :p

lol kingrich off this board buttfucks sigur ros, I agree they'll be deemed cool by a select few as will mogwai, godspeed and mum... but they don't have the mass appeal that electroclash, punk and garage do.

    a little too alternative :p

As for NOFX, Pennywise, etc. they're too old and established to be deemed cool :p And they're too punky for the DFA sound  (although haven't heard any of the new albums)

    Punks played out.

OK Joe, I'll agree that punk may not be the next big thing, but when I get home from work I'll produce a list of bands who are gonna be 'cool' and we'll start off a new craze!:p  :king:
