EFX500 and Midi any know if you can use the EFX500's Midi facility to sync other Midi Devices to the audio input from the Send/Return on the mixer? e.g. Mixer Output-----(audio)---->EFX500-----(MIDI)------>Ableton
I don't see why not, all the information on the net I can find on the EFX 500 states it has a Midi out as well as in. Try it?
apparently "The EFX500 can only receive MIDI BPM signal, it can't send. So you can sync your effects to the Ableton audio tempo, but you can't sync Ableton to the tempo of your audio from other sources with the EFX."
It should be possible to feed the EFX the signal through your laptop provided you have a decent soundcard with a midi out... or do you need it in the order you've given above?

i had thought about doing this myself, i'll buy some midi cables today and hook up the efx500 to my midi controller, see if it does owt
