    Eastern block countries

After Germany's 13-nil raping of San Marino last night

Do u reckon there's any point to having these lesser, smaller countries involved in qualifying stages?!

Yes they get experience playing the bigger teams but beatings like that cant be good?!

They have every right to be in the same groups as the big countries.

Its like a conference team playing a premiership team in the FA cup, it's their cup final.

    Re: Eastern block countries

As far as I'm aware, San Marino is not in the Eastern Block, neither is Andorra, Luxembourg, The Faroe Islands, Lichtenstein, Malta, Cyprus....

It's not just Eastern Bloc countries though is it?

The shittest teams are the likes of Andorra, San Marino, Luxembourg, Faroe Islands etc.

The actual Eastern Bloc teams are usually pretty tricky matches- Estonia, Latvia, Georgia, Moldova etc.

As last night's match proved once again.

But they should be made to qualify to play the like's of England, Germany, not be in the same leagues ever year! Only a handful of teams get to play the massive teams in cups, and there should be no exception in international football

I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The shit teams get a spanking every year, I dunno why it's being brought up so much this year?

Because there's more and more teams/countries being introduced, and the standard of the football is going down hill. Even Gibralter wants to have there own team now fgs. Only 30'000 people leave there(I think). What's the point in playing games where you know who is going to win?

Your starting to see my point though surely? Just think, if we hadn't, we wouldn't of been in Europe this season:D

You shouldn't discriminate against shit countries just because they are shit.

Qualifying for a quallifying round is pointless imo.

i agree with gibralta i dont see what they can bring to europe qualfiers same with kazakastan dont see why uefa included them in europe when they would have been more suited in the asia groups

I do see your point, but I don't think anyone would benfit from it. (Except maybe we'd all have to suffer less whinging from wenger/ferguson/mourinho when their players are on int'l duty)

Plus from a practical point of view, knowing uefa/fif's organisational skills it would take so ong to have everyone qualify that they'd have to make the cup every 8 years.

Very good point, but they always had the potential, and more importantly quite big countries.

They could always just have a league where all the shit teams play each other, and then one or two get to play in the tournament it's self.

Good point teams need these games to improve northern island is a very small nation but last night they beat spain 3-2 .

If the countrys in Europe then it deserves to play in qualifiers its the same principle as the F.A. cup the crap nations will get eliminated before the main tournament anyway unless there good so its a fair system.
