Did anyone hear about this on the news last night?

Anyone wishing to live/work in Holland must pass a test about the culture and learn the language!!

All the Turks are kicking off cos they think the test is too hard and aimed at deterring people!

Hmmmm.... really?!

Personally I think its spot on!! And only wish this country would do something similar!

Seems fair to me..... we offer them a place to live/work and in return they respect our culture and learn the language so they can communicate with us properly!!

we are going to apparently, though it's quite basic i think


to be honest though, anyone can learn anything if they really want to so it won't be that much of a deterrent i don't think.

if you're that desperate to get out of where you live or whatever then i reckon a little bit of learning wouldn't stop you

playing devils advocate here, but what if the spanish / portugese / greeks did the same to any of the hundreds of thousands of english who have moved over there in the last 50 years?

they'd have no english bars that served all day english breakfasts ?????

some how i'm thinking this test isn't designed to stop us white people getting to there country.

they weren't half complaining the nit wits...they were acting as though the dutch were in the wrong...

that's nee attitude to have if you want to get in the country...

seriously tho this bloke was whinging on cos he was being made to learn dutch & about their culture to be able to go & live there...why shouldn't he...

we're expected to learn about their culture & behave accordingly when we go there even for a holiday let alone going to live there....thought he was being a bit of a cheeky cunt to be honest

if you move to a foreign country you should abide by the laws and fit in by learning the language and integrate into society, at least to a certain degree... what ever else you do is your own business.

no pissing and moaning because you dont want to learn the native language. my mates parents moved to france and spent time learning the language before they went, i'd love to live in spain at some point because i love the culture, i wouldnt dream of moving over without at least some grasp of spanish.

i agree everyone in the world should be forced to speak english so i can go where i want and not have to learn anything new.

it is the 2nd language in a lot of countries

i went to japan & we met one person who lived there who spoke english but he grew up in the usa
