    Dual monitor setups...

    Are just superb!

If you have not tried using 2 monitors, I would suggest looking into buying a second unit and appropriate display card.

    I must get out more.

its much better IMO. Weve got a dual Monitor G4 Mac setup at uni, and its pretty sweet....

Its a right pain trying to juggle screens on my single monitor at home...

Ive used dual monitor setups for quite a few things besides music production (MM development, video editing), and its always much better....

    It just makes sense...

2 monitors makes for a much more productive workspace footprint.

    Cards...

I use an NVidia GEforce 4 MX440 (AGP8X) with dual output. You have to check that it supports dual output. Hang on...no way!

    Ha ha!

I paid £56 for the card!

    How crazy is that?

I have a radeon 9800 pro run through DVI to my TFT (17" Aluminium Acer)

DONT EVER get a TFT unless you are going to use it with a graphics card with a DVI output (and your tft monitor needs one too, cheapo ones dont) - your wasting your money otherwise... trust me :)

if you run a vga signal into a TFT the image quality is utter utter gash - its not 100% focused over the whole of the screen and you are more prone to colour "bleed" with games and dvd's.

A VGA signal is an analogue one aswell - compared to DVI which is pure digital.

The difference between a proper dvi connection and a vga one is very noticeable.

Improves workflow dramatically if you're working in editing/effects/animation/graphics etc...

It's hard to go back but I can't afford another TFT monitor and a standard £70 monitor would just look shit with the one I've got! :p

I have been using dual monitor systems for a few years now, I'm actually using three at work now (2 17" and one small lcd that I have my email open on).

I hate using single monitor systems these days, it feels like something major is missing.
