Downing Have you herd the rumour he likes to 'powder his nose'? Word is after Djing at that funny colourd vegetable bar in the Boro he gets the nazal powder on the go? Can you confirm. Not since the 3000+ people who went to Sugar Shak & seen Woodgate snorting coke on the middle of dance floor, while Phil Stamp was blasted on cowies in the corner with glow sticks, have I herd a drug rumour about a Boro player. Haha this rumour has been flying around since at least last season... personally I think it's bollocks as I don't think he could hide it. He DJ's in a bar or two in the Boro (hence his crap goal celebration) which, coupled with a few other events, have made a few fans think he is a big time charlie and probably helped start these rumours. As most people know, I rate Downing very highly... he isn't a tricky player but he can't half cross a ball.
Rio did Don't use the word CHARLIE in the same sentence as Stewart it will only add petrol to the fire. Yeah he is good player DOWN THE LINE
haha thing is there were rumours on the forums that he's always having a bevvy too... always from someone who knows someone who knows his dad, or something as tenuous. theres a section of boro fans who love knocking their own (cue kiddy fiddler jokes)
Hes a wicked player Downing imo, remember him on loan with Sunderland when he was in his teens and you could tell even then he was going to be a quality footballer.
Aye he's had a bit of stick recently but he's been playing well. He tends to get the blame when Boro don't play well which is stupid. A few fans want Johnson in the team ahead of him, I don't doubt his quality but I think we're a far poorer team without Downing... he gets more than his share of assists and bags a few goals. The problem is Downing has been our major source of assists, which is highlighted when he has a poor spell... we need more options and players to stay fit... although Fabio has been much improved recently, O'Neil looks mint and your old boy Arca is great for us when fit. The England stick was ridiculous as he never played that bad, not enough to be singled out and no worse than other more senior players anyway. I think that was down to him being seen as a favourite of McClown, rather than his ability or performances. I reckon he's a decent squad player for England, hopefully he'll force his way into the team in a couple of years if his consistency improves.
When Reiziger played for the Boro he was always spotted in Tall Trees with his big teeth out and a gurn to put Vinny to shame..
Arca = I saw him at the sunderland - reading match earlier this year, when i think boro were playing on the sunday. He hasnt missed a home game when boro havent been playing the same day since he left Sunderland, still loves SAFC and is loved by the fans as well. Would love to see him back one day
