    let me type in a few words and output them as speech into a WAV/MP3 file?

    On your control panel (if you're using XP) click to switch to classic view and then click "speech". If youve got a recording program you can record the output (read juski's guide above but select wave as the recording source instead)

    it does sound a bit crap unless you download the speech sdk from microsoft.
