Does any one else despair at the music knowledge of this forum

Before i start i am quite aware and also fine with people going out and not giving a shit about wot tracks are playing and just enjoying the music so this is not having a go at that at all.

But whenever i go on this board i really do despair at some of the utter shite people like. This is mainly toward but not exclusive to the diminishing trance parade. At times it really does appaul me to see people just following trends and listenening to effectively wot they are told to listen to.

See i thought that when u hit a medium of listening to EDM that it would kind of give you a free reign on what you can then listen to rather than the bullshit in the charts that people are inadvertantly told to listen to. On the contary tho i found an increasing amount of people on here getting excited about the lastest over hyped tune for no apparent reason other than that its been forced down their necks.

Now im still a trance fan through and through, whilst enjoying many other genres, but it still shocks me to see people just following these supposed great tunes like sheep despite the fact that they are as aesthetic pleasing as tracy emin's work for the turner prize, i.e. utter shite.

I know fine well this post isnt going to change any1's opinion but i just wanted to air mine.

If armin is playing it it must be good:p

Probably have to appreciate the makeup of this messageboard is of people who have come together as a result of a club and through friends, rather than other boards which might have more of an emphasis on the music.
Not everyone has the time and knowledge to be able to discover and listen to a wide variety of music that is released, and thus will be more inclined to limit themselves to what other people tell them to listen to.
And just like Oasis - Lyla, people are susceptible to overhyping of tunes. Think there's also a case for overexposure to something causing people to become more partial to something, than if they hadnt heard it a billion and one times on the radio every single day.

End of the day though you cant account for taste.

    I quite like ISOS4 anyway

to be fair - this is a club forum - not a music knowledge forum.

i dont think the majority on here 'follow blindly', i believe the majority like what they like for a reason, and who are we to criticise that?

i could care less about people liking / disliking the current cool thing - so what, if they like it?

the worst thing is our group of people who (as has been said many times before) are all far too cool for promise and it's music, insult the tastes of the people who do like it, ultimately keeping the actual promise people away from here. admittedly i go nowhere near as much as i used to, but i dont come on here and insult it or it's customers either.

    just a thought.

musical snobs with their heads so far up their arses makes me despair.

This board ain't been as "elitist" as the "it was better back in the day"cocks used to think it was, in a long time...

as something becomes more popular/mainstream - the cool kids begin to hate it... this seems to be how promise is now seen... more 'mainstream' dj's/line ups - more general appeal - hence it gets more and more slated...

and maybe people just like those tunes? whats wrong with that?

some good points made there, and for the record i rather quite like isos 4 too.

and to some of the others who have just whinged at me, first of all i never said anything about promise, secondly ive not actually insulted any one particular persons music taste. I am not an elitist music snob at all, i am just passionate about the music i enjoy.

The main reason i posted this thread was to initiate a debate not to start an argument
