DJs at Newcastle College... Right, we're looking for some DJs to come along to the DJ workshop on a Monday. We're looking particularly for females, 'cos we aint got any, so Kerry, Lucy and whichever others are at Newc. Coll., get yrselves along and start learnin'! I know there's a lot of talent at Newcastle College, because I've seen it (No, I'm not talking about the sexy bird in my English class!). Thing is, the only people that seem to be interested in the DJ workshops are charvers. I was sat in a room today with about 3 decent DJs, and a bout 6 charvers goin "You got 'Reasons' on 12"?", etc. Basically, we're there to organise events and raise money. I'm wanting to put on decent events with decent DJs at decent venues, which is where I'm gonna be looking for people like Little Dave. We're based at Rye Hill, so it;s a bit pointless for John Marley students to come all the way down, cos most the DJs up there are class. I know half of 'em! Anyway, just out of interest, who would be interested in doin some events for the college? (Yes, you have to be a student at the college!) DJ Workshops are run on Mondays at 12:00 at the Students' Union, 1st Floor Parsons Building, Rye Hill Campus.
Sorry, should've specified. It's both really. but the really decent people will be teaching mainly. It;s just somewhere to bring in some tunes and have a blast on teh decks really. Then if you;re lucky, you'll get to play out at afew places. It;s experience and it builds confidence if nothing else. The other thing we may be doing in a few weeks is sticking the decks in the 'Cyber Cafe'. which is the part of the canteen in Parson's that now has computers in. So, when we do, I expect to see every single Newcastle College studento n here there!
me loosy n rozz were guna do this last year, but im not in on a monday now, and neither is rozz, not sure about loosy tho. id love to do it but i cant if its on a monday, it should be on a tuesday coz ive got 2 2hr gaps between lessons, you know that would make sense!!
Well, Addy, the dude who's run it the past 5 yr, cant do it any other day. What I do need to do, however, is pursuade 'em that I'd be just as good to look after it on a different day. On about doing different sessions for lads & lasses too, cos apparently lasses dont like mixin in front of lads :S Wouldnt mind supervisin that one
I was interested last year but I'm learning by the means of teaching myself and getting taught off Lee Roberts and Phil
i went to it a few times las year, but the djs who were there were mainly hip hop, where as i play trance/hh... the lad i spoke to said they were gonna set up another one on a thursday... anyways.. im decent and can teach ppl, and lecture them on the good-natured ways of karim and glazby  will probs see u there on monday
Hip Hop DJs you saw will have been Sam & Adam. Sam's quite a good mate, he's a fantastic DJ! Davey and myself are going to see about running a separate session on Tuesdays for females.
