Saw Rush in Berlin last year. Thought he was utter shite. When I saw him he was 100% focused on playing as hard as humanly possibe, rather than having any substance to his music. You HAVE to check Tresor. You might be lucky and catch it on a good night with good line-up. Loads of big names including all the Detroit crew get in Tresor now and then. On the other hand, sometimes its Gabber! Really worth checking though, as its such a unique venue. Gets pretty scary in the vault (7/8ft celing and only one, very small, way out!). Also, Watergate. Next to the river. Although I haven't been there myself, my friend who lives in Berlin frequents it. Puts some great parties on including the recent Hardwax things. There are also usually some Chain Reaction / Basic Channel kinda parties going on, which i'd HIGHLY recomment, but I don't think there's any specific venue for it, just check when u get there... As far as record shops are concerned. You need to check Hardwax out. You'll be able to find info on more parties there too. One thing to remember is Berlin has no licencing laws so parties go on for a long time!
I wouldn't know about that sort of thing mate... You shouldn't have many problems. Dunno what those crazzzy Germans get on, but there are some scary looking chaps knocking about in Tresor
Was in Berlin last november! Jon u need to check out the Watergate. The Hacker was on when I was there. Clubs canny hard to find and looks very dodgy from the outside. Thought I was walking into some sort of smack den! I even had to knock on the door to let me in! Was totally shocked when I walked in tho' coz it was one of the smartest clubs I've ever been in with a very friendly crowd. Enjoy
Yep, i've only heard good things about Watergate. Top of my list next time i'm over there. Gutted I missed the Hardwax party that they had on there.
Was that the one with Smith'n'hack (Live), can remember seeing the flyers looked canny! Hardwax is also a reet pain in the arse to find. Was gettin dark when I went and ya have to go down this dodgy back alley and up loads of stairs in this like run down apartment block, very scary
