Sunday Trading's was a proper DJ comp, but it failed because of the voting system IMO.

People came along, gave their mates maximum points when they didn't exactly play very well and fucked off before the other acts even had a chance. I remember one week when the "winner" bored everyone to tears and the last place DJ was by far the best. The "loser"'s mates judged pretty fairly and scored the others well, but the "winner" was given maximum points by his mates who registered 0's for the others before leaving. Was all to do with who played when. A comp like that relied on those in attendance to give everyone a fair shot which, sadly, they were too narrow minded to do that.

People saw this and saw how unfair it was and stopped going. Shame really, as it could have taken off.

As far as I'm aware, it's going to continue when Trading re-starts after the summer break.

Fingers crossed the voting system changes and interest picks up again. :)

The one at Evissa is again just a poor attempt to keep people in after 11pm. The only people in there by which stage are the DJs mates who again only support their mates before fooking off.

You can still enter tho cause a couple of my mates filled in forms to play. Good luck!!:D

    not really mate
my mates are the judges init so its judged fairly and its 9:30 till 11 then they have the guest dj on so it isnt really a poor attemp to keep people in is it

    Re: DJ Comps.

Promise comp was quite good apart from the fact the early stages were on at eygpt cottage (what a wank venue for a comp, you can't even see the dj) and they kept the dj's waitin for ages to find out who got through/won. Why couldn't they decide on the night? imo if you listern to 4 dj's you can decide which one is the best, you don't have to wait till the next day to make your mind up. Especaily if your useing a marking sceme.
My mate got through to the final, in my opinion (non byest) maybe should of won. the lad playing the trance/hard stuff who was on last was also good. Even though not my type of music, he fairly rocked the place and the crowd loved it. I thought it was definately between them two, think so did most people. but the guy playing all the big house tunes won(he was good). Not sure if he did play at promise thought. I think the crack was if you played house you got to play in the always room.

really well its funny that the judges are jon shaw, lee (the light jocky) and jools(when he's in)

and the tapes dont go to galaxy at all because i asked about this when i asked karl who won then he said you said that they go there, but it would no point in playing a live set at eivissa woulld there ??

oh and karl won the heat

Were u even there when Karl was playing??

If you were then you'd have seen that it was empty and the DJs were playing to their mates then left. Evissa isnt normally very busy by that stage.

I said nowt about who judged it or if it was fair. :dunce:

Again, I never said anything about who judges it. I just dont think its much of an experience when ur playing to an empty club. I didnt want Michael to think it was more than what it was.

the promise competition was canny, enjoyed entering and playing upstairs in the later stages.......was a pleasure!!!, but the qualifying rounds were shite, playing E.C isnt the best venue in the world to start with, and the equipment isnt up to much either!!!, was a good idea, but what happened to the winner???, did he ever play shindig/promise...........don't think so????, would be nice to see promise put another competition on though and maybe's have the qualifying rounds upstairs, would pull in alot of local talent aswell as promise regulars, and aslong as theres actually something to win this time would be a money spinner!!!! :D
