Apparently there's a DJ Competition at Sunday Trading starting this week.

My mate at work wants to enter. Does anyone know any details?

Im supposed to be a judge for this so I should maybe find out some useful information myself!

Yes the competition starts this Sunday. At 4pm.

To enter, just email me with a phone number.

Each week there will be 4 players. There is no restriction on musical style.

They will be judged on the usual categories, mixing ability, the way the set is put together, technical ability (handling the equipment rather than mixing), personality/presence etc.

Everyone in the audience will get a voting form, so it will pay entrants to get some support from their mates!!

Each week the winner will get a case of beer or a bottle of vodka.

Each month there will be a winner's heat.

After 3 months, the 3 monthly winners will have a playoff. (ie Jan, Feb & March at end of March - bit like a quarter final)

That winner will go on to the final at the end of the year.

If the entrants get themselves organised they can have a profile on the Sunday Trading website.

Final prizes have yet to be organised and will depend on the popularity of the competition and negotiations with sponsors.

But the pick of the crop will certainly get to play at ST more often and hopefully get picked up by other clubs.

I can talk like, I was in quite a state @ Salsa Club on the 16th.
Salsa Club doesn't really count though, it has a capacity of about 5. With 3 DJs and the Bar Staff, we were knackered!

I aint giving you any credit anyway, I told you to open with the Harry Peat Remix of 'Blind Visions' and you didnt!

The response to this competition has been fantastic already!

There's even an entry from Belfast.

The best thing about this comp is that if someone doesn't get through in their first try they can re-enter further down the line. Therefore someone unsuccessful at their first try could end up winning the final.
