Digital Society has fast become one of the hottest monthly nights in Leeds, and has been a revelation in the UK Trance scene since its launch at the beginning of 2007. With a forward thinking music policy, and a reputation for showcasing some of the finest DJ/Producers from across the planet alongside the more established artists in today's scene, Digital Society offers the freshest upfront perspective on the full spectrum of the Trance genre. The 13th of June 2008 sees Digital Society welcome Solarize Agency and once again return to My House Leeds, to close the first half of the year in true style and it is set to be yet another huge DS party.

UK Trance legend Matt Hardwick returns to headline Digital Society v14, making his 2nd appearance at the DS helm after his stunning performance at the epic birthday celebrations back in february. Matt as per usual has been busy as ever with his ever expanding gig list across the globe and his recent release of "Fallen Tides" with Mark Pledger on Anjunabeats has been supported by every top jock since its release. After 10 years as Gatecrasher resident Matt has a reputation as one of the UK finest, and will be showcasing a stunning late set performance to the DS faithful.

Joining Matt Hardwick and making his DS debut is the legendary MIKE (Push). MIKE has been at the forefront of the EDM scene for over 10 years and is responsible for the biggest tracks in history including the awesome 'Universal Nation', 'Legacy' and 'Strange World'. With gigs spanning from the likes of Australia, USA, Asia, and of course the likes of Gatecrasher and Godskitchen in the UK. MIKE is sure to whip up the DS crowd in a frenzy and show the full spectrum of his talent.

One of the performances of 2007 at DS, was by Dutchman Thomas Bronzwaer. Thomas returns to make his 2nd appearance at Digital Society in a rare European exclusive as part of his summer tour and is set to destroy the dancefloor. His next big release 'Titan' looks set to become another huge hit and is to follow in the footsteps of 'Constellation' and 'Resound' in becoming a massive club anthem. Thomas's driving peak time style is a welcome addition the Digital Society Summer Event 2008.

Solarize artists Leon Bolier and Cliff Coenraad have been pushing the boundaries in recent times with cutting edge productions and since they made their UK Debuts for Digital Society last year - they have both moved to the next level in terms of stature and releases. Leon's recently finished his Australian tour fresh from the huge success of 'Ocean Drive Boulevard ' and Cliff has recently signed for Marco V's In Charge label and both have already reached gold status across Europe. This exclusive UK back2back is primed to get the party moving in only a way Leon and Cliff truly can.

Solarize artist Re-Ward of recent Black Hole Recordings and Doorn Records fame completes the guest line up and is set to offer a warm introduction to the evenings proceedings with a stunning opening set. The massive 'Ensure' on Black Hole launched Re-Ward into stardom and he has continued going from strength to strength with gigs across Europe and the UK such as Turnmills London with Sander Van Doorn.

Also featuring in the main room is highly regarded DS resident Kane Nelson, fresh from his recent performance at Goodgreef warming up for Italian legend Valtentino Kanzyani and on this Summer Event Kane will show the full array of styles ranging to the more driving end of the spectrum, on a night that is primed to offer the hottest upfront Trance music in the business!

Digital Society welcomes back Blank to host room2, covering a blend of all things House - ranging from Electro-tinged Prog through to tech-induced mayhem, and featuring guest djs, Global Underground's Autophase, Steve Arnold and Blank residents Freesoup and Marc Cruickshank.

In the wonderful surroundings of Leeds most intimate venue MyHouse, with the fantastic DS production & decor, the awesome FunktionOnesoundsystem, the renowned garden terrace, Blank once again hosting rooms 2, the friendliest staff in Leeds and drink promotions galore - the fourteenth edition of Digital Society promises to be another special event to remember!

    A little information on Cliffy

Cliff Coenraad is one of Hollands most excited DJ’s and producers in 2008. With his own twist of techno, trance and all what is between, Cliff Coenraad manages to bring some creativity together of a whole new level. When your music is described as ‘tight pumping beats’, ‘energetic sets with good build-ups’ and ‘scratching comparative’, you know that a new phenomenon has raised. Music is for Cliff what u can call an addiction, and Cliff sets his goal by making as many people addicted to the kind of music he thrusts. No bullshit, no limits and no boundaries. Just a great dosis of filthy beats, pure energy and dedication for his love to Electronic Dance Music. That is how people react after being a part of Cliff Coenraad outstanding sessions. Don’t tell him, he didn’t warn you!
The man with the filthy and raw beats, Cliff Coenraad, started to create his interest for music starting the age of 12, where he cuts & pastes old tapes together. 2 years later, Cliff fell in love with the fabulous world of Electronic Dance Music and the rest is history. Based in the southern part of the Netherlands, Cliff Coenraad decided to create his own blend which contains elements of techno, electro and trance. And the time was now in April 2006, where Cliff Coenraad launched his first official release!

Under his schizophrenic alias ‘Astatic’, Cliff Coenraad released his first single on the Dedicated imprint of United Recordings, which was labeled as ‘The Hollow Man / Cascada’. Things lifted off from this moment and later on in 2006 Cliff Coenraad teamed up with Leon Bolier for what was an unique collab between two of the most gifted DJ’s and producers at this period. ‘Bolier & Coenraad – The Mighty Ducks’ filled up the clubs worldwide with it’s carefully selected stabby tech-house influenced sounds, after which it returns to a trancier melody in the break before bursting into an incredible tech-trance climax. After surprising the music scene with the highly original ‘Bolier & Coenraad - The Mighty Ducks / Mohawk’, enchanting everyones ears with the undeniably beautiful ‘Mulika - Escalate’, Cliff leaves his definitive mark on the electronic music scene with his debut single under his own name: ‘Manjula / The Hazzolator’.

Just when everyone thought that cheesy trance would destroy the dancefloors, there was one man who brought salvation and heat back into venues worldwide. With an exciting flavour of DJ’ing and producing, you can slidely mention that this man is one to ‘watch out for’. His DJ gigs with his extravagant selection of trance & techno are exploding, and the audiences can never predict which surprises Cliff Coenraad will drop on the decks. And things would only get better for the superb artist Cliff Coenraad, starting 2008!

After creating massive tunes on labels such as United Recordings and Intuition Recordings, Cliff Coenraad found in the beginning of 2008 his home production wise at Be Yourself Music, which has been titled as one of best EDM labels on this planet. With an extra-ordinary mixture, Cliff Coenraad proved once again that he is developing his own style with no boundaries. Together with Thomas Hagenbeek, Cliff Coenraad started to hit hard production wise, as their first single ‘Filthy Ripper’ has been signed to the label of one of Hollands most leading export products Marco V, called ‘In Charge’. Next to the honour of releasing his first EP on the mighty ‘In Charge’ imprint, Cliff Coenraad & Thomas Hagenbeek also made a sleazy and mindblowing remix of the official Trance Energy Anthem of 2008, ‘Ernesto vs Bastian – Thrill’.

As you can see, the development of the artist Cliff Coenraad is leading to higher and bigger things, of which he could only dream of at a young age. With the true dedication for refreshing todays scene worldwide, it can only be concluded that the artist Cliff Coenraad is challenging the lovers on the dancefloors nationswide.

Making his 2nd appearance at D.S on june 13th is top producer and dj Thomas bronzwaer.

Thomas returns to Digital Society in a rare European exclusive as part of his summer tour. His next big release ‘Titan’ looks set to become another huge hit and is to follow in the footsteps of ‘Constellation’ and ‘Resound’. Thomas is one not to miss at Digital Society friday 13th at Myhouse nightclub leeds...

Thomas Bronzwaer was born in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) on the 30th of September, 1984. He became interested in dance music around the age of 13: early inspirations were the soundtracks to the WipeOut series on the playstation, featuring artists like Paul van Dyk, Sasha, the Chemical Brothers, FSOL and the Prodigy. Thomas released his first record in 2003 - a collaboration with Greg Murray. More collaborations followed such as the highly acclaimed Starburst and Profound made with Paul Moelands and released on Armada.

But it wasn't until 2005 that things really started rolling for the Dutchman. The release of his very first solo production, 'Close Horizon', caused something of a storm in tranceland as it was picked up by literally every big name in the scene and eventually licensed to Paul van Dyk's Vandit Records. The follow-up single 'Shadow World' did even better, picked up again by all the big names, and the two singles also sparked an interest in Thomas' capabilities as a DJ. Thomas released different-sounding projects such as more Arizona (trancy) productions and a more techy, cutting edge production on Spinnin' Records (Avalon - Circa).

In 2007, two more releases followed on Vandit: 'Constellation', which was supported all over the world by Paul van Dyk and many others, and made it into the national Dutch top 100; and 'Resound', which again received massive support and amazing reactions from fellow DJ's and fans.

The most important thing to Thomas is that he continues to improve his skills and release better music, and his motto will remain the same: 'this is just the beginning of the beginning'...

    M.I.K.E (Push)

Mike Dierickx, aka M.I.K.E. is unquestionably a living legend in dance music. As a producer his output across the broadest spectrum of trance over the past decade is unrivalled, both under his M.I.K.E. name and just as famously the Push and Plastic Boy alter ego's, plus over 40 other aliases over the years.

Over the years M.I.K.E. has produced timeless trance anthems such as 'Universal Nation', 'Strange World' and 'The Legacy' under his Push guise, while his Plastic Boy alter ego has spawned equally euphoric classics including 'Silver Bath' and 'Live Another Life'. During this period M.I.K.E. has won numerous awards such as 'Best Single' and 'Best Dance Producer', entering the UK National Top 40 on 6 occasions, and has remixed tracks for artists as diverse as Sinead O’Connor, Mauro Picotto and Moby.

Early 2008 highlights include an appearance at the showcase ASOT 350 event and tours of Australia and Asia, while the hot topic amongst trance fans is M.I.K.E.'s revival of the famous Push guise after demand for the name and big room sounds just refused to go away. The Push remix of Valentino Kanzyani 'Neuva York' is released on Vandit and alongside a brand new four track Push EP on Armada that will pave the way for the return of Push LIVE - the original and still the most innovative live trance show on the planet.

Thomas Bronzwaer is one of those young Dutch producers you will be hearing a lot more about in the coming months. Born in Nijmegen, The Netherlands it wasn't until 2005 that things really started rolling for the Dutchman.

The release of his very first solo production, 'Close Horizon', caused something of a storm in trance land as it was picked up by literally every big name in the scene and eventually licensed to Vandit and remixed by Paul van Dyk himself. The follow-up single 'Shadow World' did even better, again picked up by all the relevant names and the two singles also sparked an interest in Thomas' capabilities as a DJ. Meanwhile Thomas kept releasing tracks under his Arizona moniker and in 2006, he launched a completely new, techier project: Avalon. The debut single 'Circa' again received massive support and subsequently gigs in Europe, the USA and China followed.

    Leon Bolier

Leon Bolier hits this planet in the year 1980, and had a normal childhood till his 14thyear. In that year he became interested in house music due to the success of this music in the commercial circuit. He found programs called trackers, and began to make musicon his own. His big inspiration was 'Energy 52 - Cafe del Mar' , one of thé anthems backin the days, and from that day on, he knew that his style was going to be trance music.
In 2003, Leon and his brother Bart did a remix for Warner Music/Maykel Piron who wasworking for Warner Music in those days. The track called ‘Libra – Calling Your Name (Subsphere remix), was the first of many many releases and remixes on all the big trance labels of the planet such as Armada Music, Black Hole Recordings, Spinnin Records, Bonzai Music, FTM Records, and Be Yourself music under the following guises: Subsphere, Mindsensation, Precursor and of course his own name, Leon Bolier.

His tracks are played by every major dj on this planet, to name a few: Tiesto, Paul vanDyk, Armin van Buuren, Marco V, Judge Jules, Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed, LaurentGarnier, Marcel Woods, Above & Beyond and many many more.
Leon Bolier as one other passion, and that’s dj'ing. Travelling around the globe to set dancefloors on fire with his unique blend of styles, is his second true loving. With some huge upcoming gigs in Poland, Canada, TheNetherlands, UK, and Mauritius in 2007, anda lot of new tracks whereunder his coorporation with DJ Joop called 'The Future’ which will be theofficial ‘Trance Energy Anthem’ and his currentco-production with rising 'techno’ star Cliff Coenraad called 'The Mighty Ducks' onIntuition Recordings, its most likely that this year Is going to be Leon's year.

    Reward

Born Christmas 1988, Wardt van der Harst is a youngster inspired by one of the legends of today’s trance scene, Tiësto. He was 12 when he heard ‘Flight 643’. That moment was the moment he decided to save money for dj gear. Later on he bought software to produce music in that style. Like the most producers he began with some old tracker software, moved up to Fruityloops and he’s now using Reason as most important tool to make his music with. At the age of 16 he had his first release, but his career got an immense boost when Ensure/Exposé got signed by Black Hole… He knew he was on the right pad, certainly when his second EP got signed by Sander van Doorn’s own imprint Doorn Records, which is a sub label from Spinnin Records.

That is not all, further tracks are signed to Armada under another project called ‘W&W – Mustang’ . And so is his new EP called ‘Guess What?!’ signed to Black Hole again.

On the remix side of things then, after some small projects he was asked to remix Progression’s new track ‘Different Day Different Light’ for Black Hole Recordings. Also the new Sander van Doorn single ‘The Bass’ is being remixed by Re-Ward as we speak !

There shines a bright future for Mr Re-Ward, with all his tracks getting major support by Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz, Rank 1, Eddie Halliwell, Sander van Doorn, Cosmic Gate, to name a few!

    Releases:

Re-Ward – Trail Of Tears [Dark Noize Recordings]
Re-Ward – Parzival / Connections [Dark Noize Recordings]
Re-Ward – Ensure / Exposé [Black Hole Recordings]
Wardt – Show My Shuffle / Extensions (Doorn Records / Spinnin)
    W&W – Mustang / Eruption (Captivating / Armada Music)
    Re-Ward – Guess What!? (F.B.I. / Black Hole Recordings)
    W&W - Countach / Intercity (Armada)
    Dazzle - Backwards (Detox)

    Remixes:

Sonika – Hypertension (Re-Ward Remix) [Cellection Music]
Steve Allen & Ben Alonsi ft Mque – Wake Me (Re-Ward Remix) [Diverted Records]
Progression – Different Day Different Light (Re-Ward Remix) [Black Hole Recordings]
    Fafaq & Robson – 4AM (Re-Ward Remix) [Moonrising Records]
Sander van Doorn – The Bass (Wardt Remix) [Doorn Records / Spinnin’ Records]
    Genix - Piranha (Re-Ward Remix)

Digital Society Interviews Thomas Bronzwaer before his return next friday!

Hi Thomas hope things are cool?

Things are very good – I’m taking it easy back home in the Netherlands for a few weeks.

So what have you been up to in the last year or so?

I’ve started a new study in America – aerospace engineering. The first year went great, but I’ve also kept music going strong and I’ve recently finished a bunch of new productions (which I’ll be playing at Digital Society). I’ve also been doing a lot of fun gigs in America, Ireland and Scotland. The UK and Ireland are always amazing and I’m looking forward to Leeds.

You have been busy in production and DJing wise? Have you any new material on the horizon?

Yessir, I have a few new tracks like I just said. At the moment I’m just hammering them out myself at gigs because I like the idea of having some exclusive stuff. That said, I’ve also finished a remix for Inertia – The System which will be out soon on Discover. My own new tunes will find a home over the summer I hope!

Who has been a major influence for you in your musical career?

As much shit as he gets nowadays, I’ve always liked Tiesto. I think he is a good DJ and the productions that bear his name are fantastic in my opinion. He inspired me a lot during the good old days. Nowadays I think Sander van Doorn is a ridiculously talented man who continues to amaze. Paul van Dyk has also been a major influence throughout the years.

How would you describe your DJ style?

Ecclectic, uplifting. I like to play collections of tracks that I think are huge, and work best at that specific moment, rather than really trying to tell a story by starting slow, throwing in some fillers etc. I like to play shorter, banging sets.

What is the most challenging aspect of being a DJ/Producer?

Well, producing can be torture. To sit in front of an empty screen and just hit random notes on a keyboard – with every sound sounding crap – can be very tough for me. Sometimes inspiration strikes and it’s great – sometimes nothing comes out and it’s frustrating as hell.

What advice have you got for anyone wanting to make it as a DJ or/and producer?

Be patient, and be very honest with yourself. Don’t give in and sign your first production to a tiny digital label somewhere. The bar has been lowered for getting a track out – which I don’t think is good at all. A lot of people start releasing music early and never really develop their own sound or style. That way your music will never really have anything to say. I’m not trying to say mine does, but I do think it’s a far better idea to keep working and working and working until your tunes are good enough to be picked up by a major label – then you’re really doing something worthwhile.

What is your most funniest/embarrassing moment as a DJ moment?

Haha well I’ve hit the wrong eject button once, in Turnmills in London even. That was embarassing as hell, I still wake up screaming. Fortunately some crowds are very forgiving and I did my best to rock it out as best I could afterwards!

And finally tell us a random/interesting fact about yourself?

A few weeks ago, I went into the swamps of Florida with some friends and tried to catch alligators with a fishing pole. It didn’t work out so well.

Digital Society interviews trance legend M.I.K.E before his debut tommorow!!

    [IMG] [IMG]

You’ve been in the scene a long time now and have produced numerous hits, are there any in particular that really make you proud?

Push 'Universal Nation' and 'Strange World' are all time favourites of many DJs and clubbers, so yeah, I’m proud of my work so far.

You've been at the forefront of the EDM scene for the past 10 years or so, how do you think the scene has evolved in that time?

Well, in the beginning it seemed harder to produce an anthem, and you had to be a skilled studio producer, nowadays, a good computer and software does it for you, very generic if you ask me, so I’ll stick to my good old hardware vs software option.
The same with the EDM scene, back in the days there was TRANCE, and that’s about it, now people get so confused with all the sub genres. But I look it at the bright side, it all comes back, and that’s rock on!

What were your musical influences when you were growing up?

Just the pop music generally from the 80's and synth-pop gods Depeche Mode.

The electronic music scene tends to dip in popularity now and then, how do you keep your sets alive?

By just doing my own thing, trying to be inventive and innovative, literally.

Having released your album 'Moving On In Life' last year, do you have plans for another artist album in the future?

There’s a lot coming up after this summer, so be prepared! Can't say too much…yet…

How does the UK scene compare to others?

I always say that the UK is my second home, and it is! I’ve been playing in the UK for years now and it’s still one of my favourite places to come. The Brits are so open for new music in every direction the EDM scene has brought us as of today. No matter where I play or what I play, the floors are always on fire.

We’re delighted you’re headlining Digital Society, what can our crowd expect to hear from you when you take over the decks?

M.I.K.E., M.I.K.E. and more M.I.K.E.! Let's put it this way, I’m fully back like in my early trance days!

Outside of work, what do you do with your spare time?

Spending time with my family, and trying to go to the gym as much I can

And finally tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

I used to be a pro football player in Belgium aged 18, then the DJing came along and I had to make choices. So here I am in Leeds and Digital Society!

I had a really good night on Friday. Unfortunately we couldnt stay long as we were at York races the next day and didn't want to feel shit!

Was good to see lots of people I know- I felt very smug being sober for once.

Really enjoyed the music up until we left (half way thru MIKE) too

    Roll on September :)
