This week we caught up with Perceptive Nature who are making there debut in the main room at DS Invitation. Luke & Nick, who also run uplifting trance label Perceptive, have included an exclusive Perceptive Recordings mix for free download. Be sure to check it out! Hi Guys! To start with, are you looking forward to your set at Invitation and what can people expect to hear from you? Yeah we’re thrilled to be playing the main room on our first trip to DS as we’ve heard nothing but good things about the crowd, the atmosphere and the promoters (obviously . We’ll be played a bit of everything that trance and progressive offers really. Anyone who's heard just a handful of releases on the Perceptive imprints should know what to expect. We always try to construct our sets in an orderly fashion whilst constantly monitoring and responding to the crowd. Being part of a label, it's always great to hear the tracks we're signed being well received and we've got a few in our wallet that we're sure will go down a treat on the night! Tell us more about Perceptive Recordings? Is a label something you have always wanted to run? We'd been toying with the idea of starting a label for a while as Nick was working at Chemical Records at the time Brisky launched Monster Tunes. In the summer of 2007 we received a couple of demos (Nyctalopia / Time To Rest) from a certain Slovenian producer (Andy Blueman) via a close friend and were blown away by them. We couldn't understand why none of the labels out there wanted to sign them so we decided to start the label, not only for these tracks but to release a similar style and quality of music. We couldn't have hoped for a better start than Nyctalopia which was so well received, it justified our decision and has since then driven us onwards. We're sure there are a lot of people out there who are thankful we introduced Andy Blueman to the trance scene. The label has been a massive success and definitely has its own particular style. How did the concept with Perceptive Deep come about and what does offer? Once the label had gathered some steam, the demos we received seemed to rapidly increase by the day and we began to see a handful of quality progressive tracks which sounded really promising but didn't exactly fit the Perceptive mould. It was a real shame as they were tracks that we both liked. Notably the track 'Purple Sunset' from Joel Gershom (who is now A&R for Deep), we had this for probably 2 years before it was finally released and in that time we listened to it a countless number of times. We decided to start a progressive based label early last year but surprisingly it took almost 12 months to launch. Yet again, our debut release was a dream start as Arty's remix of Alex Pich's 'Tinctures' was supported by many top DJ's and has since gone onto be one of our most successful tracks to date. Are there any forthcoming releases we should be keeping an ear out for? Well Andy Blueman's 'Florescence' is up next which is a massive release for us and is exactly what you'd expect from him, emotional, epic and uplifting with a break to die for! Following that we've got our first full vocal release from ReOrder which we've really excited about. Ferry Tayle has just delivered the final remix on that package and we can't wait to get it out there! On the deep imprint we've got a collab from Anjunabeats' latest acquisition Dave Horne and Nu-Depth head honcho Danny Powers which includes excellent remixes from Audien and MoodFreak plus some stunning progressive mixes of ReOrder's 'Biscay Bay'. What does the future hold for yourselves and Perceptive? Have you any plans that you can shed light on? We ran a trance night in Bristol a couple of years ago and we really miss that side of things so promotion is certainly something we'd like to get back into. It can be stressful but is ultimately rewarding, even when things don't go to plan, you still get a sense of achievement. In terms of the imprints, we're happy with things as they are. We're working hard to ensure to continue to offer the highest quality uplifting trance with that trademark sound that people expect from Perceptive Recordings and the Deep imprint seems to be going from strength to strength with a whole host of great originals and remixes scheduled for release in the coming months. And finally, what tunes are you playing most at the moment? We tend to play a lot of Perceptive tracks cause to sign them obviously means we like them a great deal and therefore want to support them as much as possible. ReOrder's 'Biscay Bay' is a favourite of ours at the moment, especially the Ferry Tayle remix. Also, the Arty remix of Alex Pich 'Tinctures' (which we are still battering) and Audien's outstanding 'Palmetto' which due to be released later in the year. Outside of Perceptive we're really enjoying the output from Andy Moor and Ashley Wallbridge, particularly Andy's latest 'She Moves' and Ashley's remix of Tritonal 'Forgive Me, Forget You' Perceptive Nature DS Invitation Guest Mix Tracklist 1.
