    Defragmentation Dilemma

Im trying to defragment ma hard drive, but it just does the first 1 and 2%, then goes back to zero, and the cycle repeats over and over for aaages. Is this normal?, and does it need leaving for hours on end to eventually climb up to 100%. Its pretty new anyway, and i havent mucked about too much deleteing stuff

If you have used less than a gig...whats the point of defragmenting it?

You lose your system restore also.

I wouldn't bother, not as if you are pushed for space!

Are you using 98? If so, do ctrl+alt+delete, and end all programs apart from explorer and systray. Run the defrag and restart. :)
