    Darren Bent

Whats everyones thoughts of him on here?

I think he would be a decent signing for Sunderland personally, decent goal scoring record including 17 last season for Spurs while not always being first choice. Hasnt lived upto his billing since going to spurs for stupid money though reckon he could do well with a change of club and coming up here.

Theres mixed views on other Sunderland boards that i go on, cant understand it personally like and i am not sure what type of player people expect us to sign?

I would have loved Crouch up here though in reality it was never going to happen and Bent is a much more realistic target given Sunderlands current level.

It seems to be happening tonight like, apparently Bent has been pulled off the plane before it took off to asia with spurs as the clubs have agreed terms so hes coming up here for talks. Its been the headline story on SSN for about an hour or so and is all over their website.

I reckon (or maybes just hope...) that this move will be good for him, as hes bound to be hungry to prove people wrong as he has regressed in his time at spurs though definitely still has goals in him.

Im not sure that he doesnt want to come, up until now the clubs haven't agreed a fee so he hasnt been able to speak to Bruce until now (assuming what is on SSN is right anyway) I know he has said hes keen to move on though hasnt specified where, though it could be the perfect stage for him being number 1 striker in the way he was at Charlton.

Tbh i thought he was a good forward when he was coming through the ranks at ipswich but he hasn't lived up to the early potential imo, fair enough he's got a few goals but he seems to bottle it in big games and seems to go missing. Tottenham fans think he is isn't much cop by all accounts but i reckon with a bit of confidence and the right service he can score goals for the right team, definately has pace and a nack to be in the right place at the right time. Personally i hope he signs for you's and has a torrid time on the pitch, culminating in yous getting relegated.

    Some fucking hope!! :lol::lol:

I reckon he just needs a run in a team, he has been in & out at Spurs & still manages to bag goals. Shows that Steve Bruce is looking to take Sunderland in the right direction (in your opinion anyway!!)

Not sure on the transfer fee like, same with Crouch, massively inflated in my opinion. Following a trend tho, seems to be the same around the world

That pretty much sums him up. He's never going to get near the England squad again i don't think despite our lack of strikers but he needs a club where he knows he is wanted and will play. He'll score 10-12 goals in a side if he plays every game.

Would be a decent signing for you as long as you do not get raped by the fee.

Him and Jones could work well, power of Jones and Pace of Bent. Same with Jones and Campbell who i think's a fantastic siging for you's.

    The day that Ameobi either:

    a) scores 17 goals in a season when hes not first choice striker

    b) finishes as the premierships top scoring englishman

    c) gets an england call up

Then i probably would mate aye, until then though you's are welcome to him

Top signing for a club outside the top 6, just not good enough for a top 6 club

You might want to keep him then seeing as though you've not been a top 6 side for about 2-3 seasons?

Specially now City have spent loads of money so your now probs behind them as well as the top 4 + Everton & Villa

Thats kind of my point, if we want to get back up there then we need better than him - ya know, like Peter Crouch

I heard the cunt on the radio the other day complaining how there was no loyalty left in footballers and how they had their heads turned easily with offers of more cash. Two faced twat.
