Darlington FC Darlo have come out of administration and signed Craig Hignett ! Happy times for the North East's best team
Darlington have been given permission to come formally out of administration after receiving Football League approval on Tuesday. Darlington FC Ltd - the newly-formed company put together the Sterling Group consortium - have had their League status transferred to them from administrator Wilson Field. The decision comes after the Football League board decided they were satisfied the new company's financial proposals and business plan set out in the Company Voluntary Agreement (CVA) that was formulated in May. It brings to an end the North East club's association with former chairman George Reynolds, who put the League Two outfit into administration just before Christmas last year before parting company with The Quakers in the spring. Darlington chief executive Andy Battison was pleased with the Football League's formal decision to accept the club's CVA proposals. "I've been a little bit like an expectant father today, but we have had keep our plans on hold until we were given the go-ahead by The Football League," Battison said. "While we expected this decision after three months of hard work, this is still marvellous news for everybody connected with the club. "We are now essentially in control of our own destiny and can now look positively to the future." ------------------------------------------------------------------ Darlington have sealed the signing of Craig Hignett from Leeds United. The former Middlesbrough forward has agreed a year-long deal at The Wiliamson Honda Stadium. Hignett was only on a month-to-month contract at Elland Road and he failed to figure for The Whites after signing for them in the summer. The 34-year-old has now agreed a 12-month deal with an option for another season with The Quakers - after the League Two side came out of administration. "He came up here and it took about 10 minutes," said Darlington boss David Hodgson. "He's a big plus for the club and the division. "He reminds me of Gary Bannister. He's got the same quality, the same vision."
Good to see, I really hope they get a team to match the stadium now. Hignett should be class in the 3rd Div or 2nd or whatever the fook it is!
