Gary Rowell England Under 21 International SAFC Career: 1975 - 84. Apps. 266 (27), Goals 102. A local lad, Gary Rowell was a regular scorer during his 10 years at the club. Often playing in midfield during his early career, he still had an eye for goal. He was a deadly penalty taker, converting 23 out of the 24 spot kicks he took for the Lads. His crowning glory came during a 4-1 win at st james park in February 1979, the Seaham born striker grabbed a hat-trick against the old enemy. Gary is now Sunderland's match summariser on local radio.
