I've a Creative Zen for a couple of years now and had no major problems with it. It's been dropped far more times than is probably healthy and crashes occasionally but the reset button always fixes that.

The one I've got is a bit dated like so I'll probably get a new one soon. Might try a different brand though.

I've had a Creative Zen for a few years now, I just hardly use it anymore because I can use my phone and stuff now. Its sound and battery life are very good. The one I've got is a bit bulky compared to other mp3 players but they're probably smaller now anyway.

The software is easy to use too.
