Hermanez - Gold Coast Featuring remixes from Lauhaus & Barretz ///Info/// With the majority of deep electronic music being provided via Europe’s minimal hive, Berlin, it ‘s an enlightening prospect that one of Belgium’s key players in the scene is behind the musical direction of new imprint Miconn Records. Having produced a string of successful remixes of artists including Chab and Bedrock’s Polefolder, whilst appearing regularly across his native club scene, it was only a matter of time before Miquell Santos turned his attention to a dedicated output for his music. Whilst an exciting new remix of Rennie Foster’s slamming “Devils Water” is being released in 2009 on Rebirth, the debut release under his Hermanez moniker is scheduled for an appropriate New Year release on 12” and digitally. Turning his production to a more early morning vibe, “Gold Coast” is a carefully selected debut of crisp deep house beats with just enough wonky additions for even the most demanding of minimal heads. Breezes of white noise and layers of spasmodic atmospheres breeze over a groove with an almost heads down percussive ethnicity. Simple but effective twitching drums dominate the original and ride to a climax of warm stabbing keys . First up in reassembling the combinations of percussion and dubbed out samples is Barretz, who adds plenty of depth and gives the track an almost ‘adult rated’ amount of eery sounds over a deep growling new subterranean bassline. The 2nd choice of remixer has been straddling the raw funky techno scene for sometime now and having recently popped up on Cocoon and Circo Loco compilations, Amsterdam based DJ and producer Lauhaus provides a shuffling remix thats jacks itself along to a swung beatscapery. The interesting programming merges with the stabs to define an upbeat, bumpy techno affair.
