    Conexant D850 56K v.9x DFVc Modem

    Just bought a refurbished Dell computer. they said it didn't come with a modem but I have a

    Conexant D850 56K v.9x DFVc Modem

    connected to it. Is this modem good enough for me to use the internet? I'm using a different computer at the moment to post this before anyone thinks they're clever.

    Follow this guide for dummies:

    Set up the computer and modem
    plug it into the mains
    connect to the internet
    if its ok, then its ok
    if it isnt, then the modem isnt ok

    As long as you have an isp.. and a userame and password.
    Your isp will need to be dial up..

    Spot on! For some reason I thought I needed a v.92 modem and a v.9 wasn't good enough.

    9x means the same thing as 92 as far as matters to you mate.
