Computer Being Slow at Copying CDs

Im trying to copy cds on to my computer for transferring to my ipod.

For some reason its being mega mega mega slow.

Im not sure why, because ive just bought a new computer, which has a 48x CD/DVD Combo Drive. (I assume thats quite good?). It says on the screen that its recording at 0.9x speed. Its taking over an hour to do 1 cd.

    Any ideas?

cd/dvd combo drives arent the best at extracting audio imo....

is it copied cd's you are ripping to transfer or originals?

copies ones tend not to be as good quality so extraction is slower....if they are original cd's then chances are its jus the drive..

its better to extract at lower speed anyway - better results....

Its original cds im copying. Trying to rip them to mp3 format.

Im using Musicmatch Jukebox, the software that comes with the Ipod.

Ive just tried ripping a cd using Media Player, and it took 2 minutes, so theres nowt wrong with the drive. I would just use Media Player but it copies them as WMA files, which dont work on an Ipod.
