CombatFC - Newcastle Arena - 17th May - jeff monson Vs Ricco Rodriguez clicky Looks like a good card imo, but whenever I try to book/check tickets the BookingsDirect site doesn't seem to list this event. The combatfc website also seems pretty unhelpful. Anyone else heard/interested in this?
If you find out info on prices/where to buy them, post in here. I'll post back when I find out but atm the whole process doesn't seem to be very organised considering it's next month. :spangled: *Oh, and I've just watched the Shamrock Vs Le fight for Strikeforce/EliteXC. Awsome fight with a very friendly feel about it which was odd. Shame about the outcome though.
Rodriguez is fighting in Yamma Pit Fighting this weekend in a tournament put together by the bloke who first ran UFC.
Edit: haha. Just got this.. he's fighting George Bush The ring is actually a ring too... it's circular with an outer incline to limit the amount of 'against the cage' grappling etc.. Fight card was originally Gary Goodridge Vs Buitterbean but since Goodridge was knocked out in his last fight he was unable to fight. So now Pat Smith has taken his place.
Wow.. the fights haven't started yet, but so far the commentators are Bruce Beck and Jeff Blatnick and they constantly refer to the ring as the Yamma. Sounds a bit ridiculous That can all be tolerated BUT the fucking fight announcer.. he sounds 100% like a robot. :spangled: This had better be host to some top quality fights otherwise it'll be annoying for anyone watching it
Butterbeans hilarious, i remember watching him fight on cage wars he does nothing but throw haymakers, then when he was taken down it was like watching humpty dumpty, he just lay on his side and couldn't move till he tapped out
This is be far the worst MMA event I've ever seen. Don't bother downloading it. I haven't seen the second half yet but so far it's just overweight and/or old fighters. Each fight is 1 round of 5 minutes.. you'd think that would make them push the action a bit to secure their progression to the next round but I seen less action than 25mins in the UFC. The only reason you should download this is to witness how shit it is and how amazingly cheesy and annoying the fight announcer is
Strikeforce/EliteXC, K-1. I don't like the low-budget feeling of a lot of the other ones, with really annoying commentators and stupid intros or camera angles. Yamma is definitely not on my list WEC was canny last time I seen it but with my bandwidth cap I can't download near enough as I'd like to.
The only other one I'll really watch is EliteXC I think they just got a prime time TV slot on NBC in the States, hopefully they can get Tito Ortiz after his last UFC fight because I dont think they have that many established fighters who can pull in a crowd.
