    "Too Casual"

Was out last nite with mates (there was about 10 of us, mixed, for mates birthday), we were all dressed in a similar way, tshirt, jeans, dress trainers.....and they knocked me back for being "too casual"

He wouldnt explain his logic to me or how he decided that I was more casual than anybody else

i think its pretty believable.. the attic is a joke and your giving it undue credit by classing it as pretentious..

a friend of mine had his phone leafed by one of the bouncers there a couple of months back and got put in the freeman for asking for it back...

they didn't knock you back because of your clothes, if you go to the door in a group of 10 you will get knocked back anyway - they always make up a stupid excuse.

Go in 2s/3s, its the same on the door at foundation and most other places.

    the attic is shit....

trying to be a classy bar, but failing badly. If you want a good bar hit tokyo or apartment...

Scruf - Glad I didnt grief the bouncers in that case

Jambon - I'm not really the more upmarket bar kinda person anyway, I don't want to be in a building where stuck up pricks scrutinise your every move and class u as shit if u aint wearing a few hundred quids worth of clobber and look down on you.

Nass - We dont usually have a problem like!

    Only charves and smackheads !

Seriously though, I don't see how it's a bad attitude really, it's not the sort of person I am. What is a bad attitude is the arrogance of some of the punters of some bars, like I say, you can see some people looking at others and if they don't fit their "criteria" then they are just totally ignored. I can't stand the arrogance that you find in places like Attic/Apartment etc. People are there to be seen by people who in their eyes "matter", walking round holding a bottle of bollanger etc. It's quite sad how these materialistic things have such importance in some peoples lives!

Of course i'm not implying that everybody who goes to these bars is like that but alot are, which is why I like to stay well clear. Some times it's probably not intentional but thats the way it comes accross.

I thought the days of strict dress codes were over in most places, I don't profess to know loads about fashion but alot of people go for the jeans/dress t-shirt/dress trainers style. Although as Nass said they probably just wanted an excuse in my case on Saturday.

I dont even own a shirt now. I dont feel at all comfortable wearing any combination of shirt/dress pants/shoes.

I prefer comfortable trainers, jeans or combat pants and a t-shirt. Venues with this type of laid-back dress code are the kind of places I prefer to be in too as no1 who likes to look down on people for dressing so casually is going to go there to start with. Although, some people still decide that anyone wearing a cap is trouble. I Still dont understand the logic in that one.

Believe it or not, Cuba Cuba is one of the friendliest clubs I've been in (including the bouncers!) and the only time theres been any kicking off has been when someone verging on the line of charva has decided they'd like to jump into the mosh pit and hit a few goths only to find they actually get booted all over the place then hurled out by the bouncers. Not my scene at all music-wise, or the leather clothes etc but there are as many people wearing jeans and t-shirt as there are leather and chains :p Not sure how I first ended up being there but it beats being in a room full of stuck up twats.
