    Clubbing Burnout

The modern clubber looks like he or she will last 5 or so years max clubbing it, where as the clubber born in the mid to early 70's had a clubbing life span of approx 10 years, is this down to overloading?

When I were a lad you would be a clued up clubber if you knew the name of the DJ playing, never mind knowing which mix of the 8 potential mixes the DJ was playing from a certain song. People didn't know Carl Cox was black unless they had seen him, not so long ago people were telling Mark (Promiese) what time Ferry was playing as Ferry had a gig in Scotland on the same night & Mark was the fella who booked him. It used to be a logistical nightmare getting down to Spennymoor from Newcastle, now people think nothing of blasting into Europe to see a certain DJ or DJs. To try & keep things fresh for todays clubber the rulers like to feed them something new very often, hence the explosion of sub genres.

I think the modern clubber has better time on a night than us old skoolers but the length of time they do that will be less.

    Re: Clubbing Burnout

I never used to have a bloody clue who was on in Rockshots in the early days. No-one really cared that much!

 So true! A clubbing trip away was about a once every six months expedition!

I've been clubbing for nearly 8yrs now and i still love it. Does seem like kids these days just wanna get fucked and don't really are about the rest. Either that or there some kind of tune spotting geek.

I'm in semi-retirement after 9 years, though I first went "proper clubbing" 17 years ago. Oh my god.

    Atleast I'm not that bad!

Just remembered it's only 12 years......

First night was Awesome 101 at the Bunker in East Calder, March 1992, with Ultrasonic, Bass Generator, Tom Wilson and other sincluding a then 'cool' N-Trance who did a PA featuring 6 mixes of Set You Free!

Bit of a shit night really.

Theres more to life than going to a club week in week out.

I get the impression alot of people last about 2-3 years max before their bodies and interest just give up because clubbing consumes their entire existance for that period of time.

Its supposed to compliment things, not be a career in itself. If you pick and choose your nights out you'll probably last alot longer and hold your interest in things likewise.

For me the opposite is true. The less I go, the less I want to go.
