Clubbers dont like change...true or false?

U often hear clubbers say "i wish it was like it used to be" or "what i d do to relive that moment" etc. do people think on the whole clubbers dont like change? Which is ironic as the music industry is moving quicker than ever before. What do u think?

it isnt just clubbers. as a race we depend on / find comfort in familiarity. uncertainty and change puts us on edge.

    bit shit really.

    *EDIT*

oh, n ken - look in that 'Finally!' post, i edited ur sig n it's in there.

Clubbers don't like change, but get bored easily. Very self contradictory.

To be honest I don't think that change is the problem though. A lot of clubbers go through a honeymoon period when they first discover it, which just fades naturally, same as excitement about anything does if you do it enough.

Many clubbers will have loads of fondness for those days (I do myself) and they'll complain that it was better back then. the fact is that it wasn't better, it was just more special cos it was new and exciting :)

I dunno if i've made a very good job of getting my point accross there :dunce:

Very true Claire. Once you have been doing it for a while, the novelty factor wears off. I miss that excitement on a Saturday afternoon when you knew you were going out. Mind you, I have been doing it pretty much week in, week out since 1996.

    ahh you veteran ;)

Recently I've started going to different clubs rather than just gatecrasher all the time, and it has become more exciting again, but I've accepted that it's never going to be as exciting as it was :)

i do as well, i still love the whole playing a few tunes on the dex first, drinking, pre club bars, then hitting the club.
its even better when its a dj youve waited ages to see

though i can appreciate that if youve been doing it for several years, the thrill might wear off.
thankfully ive got a while to go before that happens, im not even 22 yet!

they like the old days cos it was fresh and new and exciting.
i like change cos it gets the buzz back, and makes the new days like the old days.

i dont think the majority of clubland likes change, per se - however 'gradual evolution' is accepted :)

i personally like to experience new things, im all for evolution :)

Exactly - when you first go somewhere its new wow! You love it, and because of that you don't want it to change yet you get so used to it that you may get bored of it. One of the many reasons I club monthly.

Like spud I like to experience new things, and the buzz that spence was on about I've been getting the last couple of days.

I know - it should have been 'I, like spud, like to experience new things'

That sounds gay too. I can't win.

When I started going to The Venue in 93 or 94 you were dancing next to the SHIT OF SOCIETY most raves like the REZ were full of shity people as well! The people you see in clubs today are at least 10 times better than people I used to see in clubs back in the day.

Clubbers definitly don't like change... yet it's them who change more than anything imo   Spot the irony in that!

As you experience it more, you change perceptions and want different things from a night out :D

I still get a buzz from going out, but not as much as I used too :) But my musical tastes have differed a lot too :) For the better I think :)
