    clever people i need help

i have an olympus 300 digital camera.

it doesnt come with a cd to install it.

i plugged it into a computer with Windows ME and, with a few prompts, it was installed and i could acess the pics id taken.

last sunday, the compuer with ME just stopped working so now im useing my computer with XP.

ive plugged in the camera and nothing happens...part from the computer says 'bong bong' which is odd, cos when i plug in the zip drive, it says 'bing bong'

nehow, i NEED to get the pictures off it cos i need to sell items on ebay and the fucking scanner dont work either.

ive emailed olympus asking if they cud send me downloads for the drivers for it, and they told me to plug it in and it will work...which it bloody duznt which is y i emailed them in the 1st place.

    duz ne1 know either,
    a) why the camera doesnt work
    or
b)where i can find drivers for it?

    please help.

    thankyou

(once this is sorted, my other computer is totally knackerd and i need lots of help sorting that)

When the computer goes bing bong...its obviously letting you know its connected.

I'm sorry if you've already tried this, but try going into "My Computer"...then look at the devices with removable storage. You should see an icon for the camera.

If not then I'm stumped :spangled:

i do see an icon called my camera...with my otehr 2 digital cameras (shite ones) i click on this and the images come up...with this one it says there is no camera

but mum says shes gonna take it to jessops and have the images put on to cd and sshes paying so its ok.

now i have to sort out why my other computer shows huge icons, has fucked up colours and wont let me use the mouse.

i can get in to safe mode and use the mouse but i have no idea what im supposed to do in that to sort out the normal mode.

Delete all the old cameras, go into add/remove programs, delete any old camera software that might be causing conflicts. It should appear in 'My Computer' then you should be able to shift them onto your PC.

does your camera have a flash memory card? You could always get a Flash Card Reader for your pc, that would work and its alot quicker when transferring :)

my mother and i bought the computer a few years back when neither of us had a clue abot technology.

there was no ME setup cd, which we didnt realise until 3 days after the guarentee ran out and it just stopped...everything stopped...so we foned currys and they said to use the cd..and we said we didnt have one, so they sent sum1 out with one, he fixed the computer, took the cd back with him and charged us £100 for the pleasure.

I can start the pute in safe mode so im gonna get a zip back off martin and put ne important things onto zip then onto this computer, then spuds getting me an xp setup cd and xp service pack cd and then my mate tom, whos the IT technician at my old college, is gonna come over and reformat it for me and i can start all over again :)

    I love my friends :)
