City reject 5 million Distin bid Manchester City have rejected a £5m bid from Premiership rivals Newcastle for Sylvain Distin - and insist their captain is "not for sale". Newcastle manager Graeme Souness has expressed his interest in the player previously as he seeks to shore up his side's leaky defence. "I can confirm that Newcastle have made a formal approach for Sylvain Distin with a bid in the region of £5m,'' said City communications chief Paul Tyrrell. "We have rejected the bid as Sylvain is not for sale. He has three and a half years left on his current contract and is staying here.''
I liked Distin & he would of been a good signing. Anyone who thinks he is money grabber needs to realise most footballers are.
Everytime ive seen Distin he has played well, got a lot of pace and reads the game well. Looks like Souness is really trying to sort the job out for you's wot do you rekon Spence?
I have said to my mates there is no point in signing 1 defender, then sitting back & seeing if he makes everything okay. The defence needed at least 3 new players that could come in play from the off, no young kids like Dawson from Notts Forest either.
Boumsong and Babayaro are good signings like, and if you get Kuffour and Distin id be well happy with that and to be honest a little jealous of you black and white bastards!
