    Cinema Prices

    How expensive?

£7.45 in Leeds for a single. what the fuck? i can buy a cocking DVD for that price. According to a mate who works at the Metro Centre one, it's going up there to £7.50 this summer as well

what a rip off - i love going to the cinema but these recent price hikes take the piss.

fleecing us like this - hurrah for torrents

I have to download films to be able to afford to go to the cinema.

Apparently it's a tenner in london these days, won't be long before we see that up here I imagine.

... Was 8.50 or something here in Richmond on saturday night ...

75p online booking fee - what a disgrace. The whole point of the internet is to REDUCE the human element, the back and forth, the physical devices and thus BRING DOWN costs.

.... Still tho - for 2 hours of entertainment, it beats alcohol you could argue. Was 2.50 back in my student days 7 years ago - ahh.

Empire at the Gate is £6.40 now.

It is very expensive really...even a student is £5.60

Companies are always whining about piracy but what do they expect when the cost of going to the cinema is constantly going up?!

Do you not think the reason cinema prices go up is because of piracy? The increase in pirate films results in an increase in price to try and recuperate the lost profit. Add that to inflation and maybe that gives you the reason behind it the high rises.

The cinemas I go to cost about £6, I think that's not a bad price to pay, it's the beverages and confectionary that cost a fucking bomb.

I work at a cinema and even I admit it's a total rip off.

The reason the Box Office prices are so high is because a company such as Odeon makes almost no money from ticket sales, it goes to the distributors who essentially "hire" the films out to cinemas.

The majority of Odeons profit comes from the retail/food stands, which is why they push food so much and why the food prices are expensive too.

You still can't beat watching a film on the big screen though, which is why the majority of people still pay the scandalous prices.

It makes sense to get what I have, if you can. You only have to go twice a month and youve made your money back. It also makes me laugh that my cinema charges DOUBLE the price for sweets, drinks and popcorn than Asda next door. I always take my own in.

big budget action films are totally a cinema experience.

it used to be an inexpensive treat to go to the flicks - cheap saturday afternoon fun - now it's ridiculously high

Also, if films are still raking in hundreds of millions at the box office around the world and the film costs like 20 mil to make, theres still a MASSIVE profit, regardless of piracy. Greed.

Yeah, but ten years ago all you could get was the odd pirate video which cost about £7. Now with high speed internet and cheap copying equipment, everyone does it.
