Chicken or Egg? What came first? The decks, or the vinyl? I always had intention of getting decks, so was buying vinyl way before I got decks, and just used to play the vinyl on dads old record player, lol, the thing didn’t have 45rpm though… then bought a shitty Goodmans turntable just so i could listen to the tunes properly...
Re: Chicken or Egg? used to exactly the same had at least 40 tunes and hadnt even priced a set of dex but it was a good start!!!, i think vinyl came first!!!!
i think alot of people do that like!!!, i've got a few mates who spend a fortune on vinyl when they havent even got dex!!!..........just use other peoples when they have a mix!!! weird...........i would much rather save and but dex, it wouldnt take that long...........after all vinyl is on the up price wise!!!!
lol, took me from 1998 to 2002 of buying vinyl before i got my own dex... to me buying the tunes was far more important, my brother had some crappy Numark direct drives, but i hardly ever used them cos i was at uni, so just kept buying and buying new tunes, and just playing them on crappy record player, hopefully this will all pay off next saturday
Prime example Marty v has no decks (well he didnt last time i spoke to him) marty is an amazing dj and he aint had no decks.
i know a few people who've never had decks!! one lad used to be a hardcore dj and has played for many years without ever having any!
i think its always a good start to buy some tunes first!!!, i actually woke up on christmas to find a new set of Kam dex a few year ago and was well happy............AND they were direct drive aswell so you can imagine me face!!!, but no vinyl!!!..........i was lucky that i had been buying them weeks before hand cause i would hav been fcuked!!!, so they come hand in hand!!! No vinyl - Carnt DJ No dex - Carnt DJ
OMG, though imagine getting the dex for xmas, and not having any vinyl, u d have to just look at them until u could go to shops to buy some, that would be painful!
i have records first.....about 30 i think. then bought daves old kam TTs.... then they got nicked. got some 1200s and a 275....
i saved up and bought some kams and then worked all summer to pay off my student debt but bought 1210s and a pcv 275 mixer instead and have lived in poverty ever since!
but its all worth it I used to rinse my account, especially with cheques and buying records… need that tune, oh aint got enough money in account, will just write a cheque, and worry about it later… ken ends up spending an extra £25 on a few tunes, cos of bank charges
when i used to always use juno they used to double charge me quite a lot, which would push me over my overdraft limit and i would get a £30 fine which they would have to pay!!!think they ended up with 3 or 4 which cant have been too good for them!
