    Cheque clearing

Is there any way of getting a cheque to clear quicker than the 3 or 4 days it normally takes to clear??

Ideally if I banked it on Friday I would need it cleared by the Tuesday as there is a chance it may get cancelled by the person giving me the cheque?? Can you pay extra or something to get it cleared quicker/??

If you want to use the money to buy something then pay by cheque for that item

Nah it;s not that, it's cos I'm leaving my job but I get paid by cheque. I have about £500 which I should get next Friday for a case that has completed. However, my sick note runs out the following Tuesday when I will be telling them I'm leaving so they will cancel the cheque form their end to try and stop me getting the money, so want it to have cleared by then :)

    Re: Cheque clearing

its actually against the law for your employer to not pay you for money you have worked for. I wouldn't worry about it.

i know at barclays that scottish cheques take an extra day to clear so i would check it out with lloyds too

hmmm.....ask them but i wouldn't say it was worth paying to get the cheque cleared a day or 2 early

I'm pretty sure that if you cashed your cheques in earlier this week you would have had them fast tracked for nothing because of the bank holidays, at least I hope that that is cheque money that I've been spending on chocolate

even if you do cash it and you turn out not to be entitled to the money they will get it back somehow, so no point really?

I think its best that your leaving, by the way if you get your self a solictor, they don't have a leg to stand on if your entitled to the money.

i hate the place, in all honesty i probably could have gone back sooner and did little bits but the way they've spoken to me and threaened to sack me and how its all so mickey mouse has pissed me off so much.

i think their defence would be that because id bene off sick other members of staff had been working on my cases to get them through so i wouldnt have done all the work on them and wont give me anything for it. its so mickey mouse for the staff its unreal, cantwait to tell my boss to shove it :)

just wait till the money is safely in your account then tell him where to go.
