Talk about going downhill! I would tbh though, if it meant getting first team football. Is he even on the bench?
I can see why he wants to stay and fight it out but it's clear that Mourinho isn't keen on him. Sometimes premiership players are loaned out and a manager can reassess them and maybe see something they haven't in training or in teh reserves. Danny Murphy springs to mind. Houllier loaned him back to Crewe and had relatively little interest him. Liked what he saw, stopped his proposed permanent move back and he went on to be an important midfield player in the Liverpool treble winning side. Some may say it's arrogance on Parker's part but then again you could see a little bit of his ego coming out when he started getting real media praise when he was at Charlton.
I still think Parker is a great player - Mourinho has got this one wrong! Hopefully uncle Frankie will take a look and reel him in come January
He should never have gone there in the 1st place I agree. He should've gone to the club he supported as boy - Spurs! The way he left Charlton left a bad taste in the mouth Think Smertin as you say used his loan move to adjust to the prem.
Dont think yous had the £££'s to buy him. I see Glen Johnson says he would go down a league on loan to play first team football again. The Toon had a £2.5m bid for him which West Ham accepted than Chelski came a along & offered £5m, you cant compete with that
Word was we had a deal agreed worth about 5M - with Etherington going the other way. For some reason it fecked up - either Parker got word of Chelski's interest (though they were skint at the time) or Hoddle fecked it up or the board - summit went wrong anyway. One day their bubble will burst. When the Russia grows tired who will be there to pick up the pieces of an unsustainable wage bill and plastic fans who will desert when the going gets tough. I look forward to that day
£5M! Couldn't of imagined them letting him go for that less! Etherington is only worth a million at a push! So do I!
