i've had an iomega enclosure fail and a seagate hard drive fail AND and different segate enlosure fall apart. not as 'portable' as they make out western digital for £70 delivered http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=346201&sourceid=2003
i've got a Siemens one: http://www.fujitsu-siemens.nl/Resources/96/204301292.jpg absolutely bricking it if it fails. i also dont know the grounds on why external hard drives fail as well - so that leaves me in the constant suspense every time i turn the fucker on. that cost me 100 from a local computer shop. has been quite good so far apart from my latter comment.
dont you think its a bit like russian roulette making HD's bigger and bigger? untill they are failsafe its just more content to cry over when it die? i might make a 500 gig my max "just in case"
