    Cheap RAM?

Spud wants more ram. i have 512 right now, and im either gonna go up to 1gig of ram, or 768, depending on cost. as far as im aware my board will only take pc2700 DDR ram (it's old but has aged well due to good bios support  :) )

up to now the cheapest ram i have found is here: http://www.aria.co.uk/

but ive heard some horro stories about that site... :spangled:

    anyone suggest anything better?

    Half Life 2. :p

It's recomended spec suggests 768 meg + of ram (and that aint optimal) and i hate not being able to play things at there best. :p

as well as that im getting slowdown on far cry and i can't be doing with that.

    my system is:

    Gigabyte GA7VTXE board
    Amd athlon XP throughbred 2400+
    512meg ram
Nvidia GeForce FX 5800 (256meg ram)
and 240 gig worth of HD space. :)

and it's all well maintained, up to date everything... but far cry still slows down when things get busy. and apparently more RAM would cure this. :)

    Fair cop.

I was gonna say, there are only about 4 reasons to have more than 512mb of ram, farcry is one of them.

I'd look at getting a matched pair of 512 rather than just getting a 256 chip.

    I've got a P4 3ghz with a gig (2x512) of matched corsair 3200 and a ATI 9800pro.

Farcry runs fine (never slows down) with all the eyecandy on the highest res (1280/1024). I'm persuming that halflife2 will also run fine (when/if it is ever released).
