    Cheap Internet Packages?

Having my eyes pulled out currently with Virgin Media for a broadband Service & have had nothing but hassle since last September when I signed up for a 12 month deal. Was Fraudulently signed up to a package I never requested to begin with which took nearly 3 months to sort out then credit me back... and everytime I call to quiery a bill you end up in some sort of argument with a customer service agent who speaks to you like you've done something wrong?
The customer service is shocking & the service aint that good to justify £30pm for braodband alone...

any suggestions of cheaper decent alternative service providers? I've thought about a 'dongle' but unsuer how good the connection is etc... ?

What network are you on? Cheapest by far would be organge if you have an orange phone as you can get it free.

I've heard quite good reports about be broadband as well. https://www.bethere.co.uk/

On Virgin Media, just I think £30 a month for Internet alone is a bit steep tbh...

Totally agree, when I signed up in december for the XL broadband and TV package I was told it would be £50 a month, been getting the bill in and they are charging us £65! When I rang to query it they said they would never do it that cheap, i asked them to find the phonecall i had with the rep and they reckon that call wasnt recorded!! Dicks

It's nothing but a headache everytime I call them, I have to wangle my way round the menu options so I can actually speak to the Customer Care team in Teeside rather than India. Then when you finally do get through they speak to you like your shit, just seems they go out of their way to try & piss you off rather than resovle your issue? then when you do get pissed off they throw the age old Call Centre disclaimer at you: 'Mr Proud if you carry on speaking to me like that im going to have to terminate the call' Lol, blood pressure - through the roof at this point.. :fuming:

Proudy - i meant mobile wise, if you have an orange mobile u get free home broadband....

Zoe - Ring Virgin and tell them you are leaving. Make sure you're put through to retentions and just explain the customer service is shite. I used to work for them and they'll give you everything to stay. just make it sound convincing you want to leave and keep pushing them they'll give you half price line rental and half price tv for about 6 months. They'll get you a cracking discount to stay as if you refuse their performance and bonus is affected.

I regulary used to give people free line rental and half price phone/tv package. We are with Virgin now and i always ring up and get it cheaper and when the 6 months half price is due to finish ring back and say i'm leavign again and get it extended.

cable broadband is muchg better than ADSL - unless you get it free with Sky or someone like that

Even if they offer you free stuff , don't accept it, wait to be put thru to 'Cancellations' - THEY have more power to offer you free stuff. Also, they only have limited amounts of stuff to give away, fridays it's usually all gone, mondays they're still saving stuff so tues to thurs are good days to ring and get the most.

There was never any limitation on any offer we could give when i worked there (Granted i've been left a year)

I used to take peoples month bills down from about £70-80 a month to around the £30 mark offering free lin rental, free talk 24, half price tv package and half price broaband. Each customer can have upto £30 in credit applied to their account as well over any 6 month period (Unless its a credit to alter a billing mistake then you can apply as much as you like. So if a customer still wanted to cancel i'd then offer to knock off anotehr £5 a month off their bill either for their extra box or what not.

I bet Richard Branson loved me.....But i always hit my targets and very rarely disconnected customer they all decided to stay.....

My internet is 7.18 a month from O2. 8mb ADSL2 and you get a free router.

350kb/s from torrents. I couldnt ask for more really, for the price.

i personally don't have any problems with their customer service - just don't have high expectations and you'll be fine! i get what i need from them and have had no real troubles.

who's your landline with - BT? to get the cheapest rates, you need to have broadband and phone with the same company, even if it's ADSL or Cable

yeah, i ripped that bit from Sky's sales patter - but i was guessing it applied to lots of these types of companies offering retentions incentives. mine worked!!

Aye its the same with everything, threaten to leave and you'll get more. I always push as far as i can to the point where you make them believe you will cancel. Even if you don't want too its the best way. you can always ring back and tell them you want to stay.

We ahve virgin phone & bb and sky tv, we always play them off every couple of months to keep our bills down.
