CD Recognition Problem... I've got a problem with my pc not reconising a new cd when l put it in the tray, it still thinks the cd l have just taken out is still there, so if its got an autorun it trys to boot the old cd when cant find the files on the new cd, gives an error and wont run the new cd i've put in. I can get round the prob by restarting the pc and it reconises the first cd entered, but the problem repeats if l try to change cd's from there. Its not that much of an issue unless l need to install programs that come on more than one cd. Anyone heard of this/any idea to fix it? Am on winxp sp2, the issue was the same with win 98 before l upgraded to xp as well.
not heard of that problem b4... BUT if it happened b4 u upgraded - it suggests a hardware problem - whether it's the slow/faulty CDrom OR some kind of compatability problem between the motherboard and the drive..... i'd borrow another cd rom off someone, swap it over for a bit & see how it goes...
Its the same issue with the floppy drive as well, so l reckon your right with the motherboard probs, its getting old now, l need a new pc l think
keep yer case - just get a new motherboard/CPU and probably memory! cheap upgrade! u may also need someone to fit it...
