Cd Decks - Denon / Pioneer

Im thinking of buying a CD deck and i would like an opinion from someone who has tried both of the following Decks

    Pioneer CDj 1000mk2
    Denon DN - S5000

im leaning towards the denon, i dont play out anywhere and it looks like a much better deck for the money. Im not interested in the fact that more clubs have the pioneer, i just want the best effects/abilities for my money.

    Opinions anyone?

Brid is your man - he's bought 1 of each...

Pioneer is the standard but the Denon has loads of neat features more than the CDJ...

I had the misfortune of having to use 2 Denons at Ministry Of Sound (having never used Denons before) and they were horrendous but over time I would get used to them

I've had both the CDJ1000mk2 and Denon DN-S5000.

The pioneer are really easy to use and the denon ones are good but take a lot of getting used to, I wouldn't like to try and just play on them without some practice, saying that, you can do a lot with the denon ones.

Really it depends if you would use all of the extra features?
If not, def go with the pioneer. Easy to use and built solid

If your not playing out... denon ALL the way. Even the dirt cheap 1000 one is a stunning little deck.

The pioneer is a nice deck but its boring - if your gonna wax 600 odd quid on a deck, i'd want something that still has some crazy features left to learn.

    I love my denon

You can turn the moving platter off if you wanted to, switch next to the platter - although for someone who said its not for playing out live on... im not sure what you mean by saying its bad news?

There are plenty of knarly things you can do on a 1000mk2 , you just have to know the ways of the cdj ninja

Yeah but the cdj1000 is merely a foot soldier, compared to the Ninja Gaiden ultra grandmaster skills of the Denon.

Think i might settle for DNS-3000 in the coming weeks.

I guess its a case of "All that Gear With No Idea" as someone once said to me :)

Im just one of them people who wants the best regardless of how much ill use features :)

i went straight for the cdj1000, gonna get another one soon too, i love the feel of them.
if you are gonna spend that much on a cd player i take it you must take djing seriously, in that case id say get the cdj because its industry standard
