How old were you 12 years ago? If you dont mind me asking :)

Were you a Juvenile? If you were then no it wont show up, if were werent a juvenile then you should get intouch with your local police station, explain what you were cautioned for and how long ago, they will tell you whether it will show up on a CRB.

Legally, it shouldn't show. But in reality- do you think the police are going to pay someone to archive records and remove stuff from files as it expires?

It'll still be on your record somewhere.

I got cautioned when I was 15 for Agravated assault and that showed up when I applied for the Police force :( but it wont show up on a CRB

Edit* and the policeman who cautioned me said It wont show up anywhere but Scotland Yard once I turned 17

What does a CRB check reveal?
The vetting system operates in two stages. Names are checked against the Department for Education and Skills' List 99, a confidential register of all people convicted or suspected of child abuse. Once this has been checked, contact is made with police forces in every area of the country in which the applicant has lived or worked for details of any relevant convictions. Checks are also made for any convictions that may have expired under the 1974 Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, as well as any cautions, warnings or reprimands.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Cautions & CRB's

I always wanted to be a policewoman when I was younger and I asked the policeman who cautioned me if it would affect it and he said it wouldnt and that I wouldnt have to declare it on any checks or applications to the police force, obviously it did though because when I applied for the police I put on the application form I didnt have any convictions, I got a letter about 3 month later saying a conviction had shown up when they checked and my application had been withdrawn :( Im not a criminal  Im an upstanding member of society :)

Pretty sure that it will show up. I remember something similar being said when we got ours done.

    Re: Cautions & CRB's

am pretty sure cautions only show on a "police record" and CRB checks only show cnvictions on your "criminal record"

AND i have a caution... and my CRB check by a school was cleared so it obviosly didnt show up!
